This place attracts low-rent seekers. You get what you pay for.
There's a huge problem with ventilation, mold, and fungus. Management sent a memo advising setting the AC to 64 or lower to stop mold from growing (yeah, right). After someone moves out, sometimes they completely gut a unit down to the studs and rebuild it. I used to have seasonal allergies which became year-round after moving in. I feel sick and get headaches if I spend too much time inside even with the windows open. There's a frequent sewage smell, and cooking and smoking smells from neighboring apartments. Impossible to properly air out your apartment because the window openings are too small, and if I turn on the furnace or A/C, it just recirculates the air and the loud fan makes it impossible to hear anything.
Frequent loud music from other units, loud talking in the parking area and balconies, and cars with booming stereos. St Mary's College students. The noise comes right into each unit. Some seem to be subletting or letting friends stay overnight.
Unannounced construction went on for a couple of weeks. Hammering, jackhammering. Contractors parked wherever they wanted and made a mess with debris, nails, and screws in the parking lot. Next, CalTrans jackhammering on hwy 24 and offramp at 1am for several weekdays. Ridiculous.
You'll get one parking space which is often used by other cars. Several residents have very large, wide vehicles parked crooked and the spaces are narrow. There are only 3 guest spots for the whole complex and the cops issue tickets daily on Mt Diablo Ct.
Dog crap everywhere, even on the blacktop. Watch your step. No one picks up.
Trash area piled high and overflowing, food waste on ground. Ants and yellow jackets. Looks and smells terrible.
A new apartment manager took over recently. Has 2 beater cars and are frequently not parked in their assigned spaces. Music frequently blasting from their apartment with the door or window open. Tattooed SO looks like a gangbanger. Place is much worse than with previous manager.
Unless you absolutely must have a Lafayette address for the lowest rent, go elsewhere. It's not worth the inconvenience, frustration, and discomfort.

I must say, BEWARE!!! Besides the rampant car break-ins being close to the freeway. The property manager was so rude, unapproachable and racist. She bugs/harass tenants and a lot of people are moving out because no one can't stand her.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
I knew it was too good to be true. I have bad allergies and I thought the marble floors would be great but not at the expense of what you describe...thanks for the info!!
