City living in the heart of Lafayette

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2008
I have lived at Town Center since 2003 and LOVE it. If you enjoy city living (walking distance to everything including BART), this is the place for you. Its the newest complex in Lafayette built about 6 years ago I think and rather quiet (cannot hear upstairs neighbors, or any neighbors for that matter). The apartments are expensive but the location cannot be beat; all the best restaurants are nearby, Safeway and Traders Joes are 1 block away, and there is a walking trail to BART that is literally a 3-4 minute walk to the entrance gates.
As far as the previous reviewer, I think he/she is a disgruntled past tenant. Of course there isn't any TRUE security, there is NO TRUE security anywhere! The building requires a key or buzz-in by residents throughs intercom system at the doors, but anyone knows you can follow someone into any building anytime; same situation with the garage... you can follow others in, DUH! But the pathways are all well-lit, neighbors watch out for each other, and you can't ask for a quicker-responding police dept if needed! And there are always car break-ins around the area at Christmas especially in the retail area (ask Lafayette PD) due to people leaving possessions and gifts in visible sight.
The only complaint I have is the recent addition of small dog allowance at Town Center. I don't agree with keeping pets (especially dogs) in apartments, period. They need to run free and its inhumane for owners to inflict this on their pets! But I guess this community is all about their small dogs, so Town Center is trying to accomodate.
I would recommend Town Center to anyone, but ONLY if you enjoy the city life. If you prefer a slower-paced area, move to the suburbs!
