Mixed bag.
To get around the "campus" you need keys at every turn. A key to get out of the gate from your apartment to the main area, then a key again to get into the gated parking area. Same scenario to go from your apartment to the laundry area - twice with the keys. Pain in the butt if you're carrying laundry baskets.
The main entrance has a call box, so visitors can call you on your phone, but it's not like that opens the maze of gates to let the visitor in. You've still got to go out to the main area to let your visitor in.
They really need to have all visitor parking in the main un-gated area - too many residents park there, leaving nothing for guests.
I have no idea of how management would check to see how many people are actually living in individual apartments, but there appears to be many apartments with WAY TOO MANY people living in them. AND, as they limit the number of cars per apartment, guess where all the "extra" people park their cars - that's right - in the main parking area - leaving nothing for guests. Doing something about this basic issue alone would change my opinion from a "D" to a "B".
In-the-wall heater units in the bedroom are noisy - maybe that's a nit to complain about as the units were built in 1947.
Cool laundry area - I've never had to wait, and they have the little cash cards so you don't have to deal with quarters. Very good machines.
No built-in microwave - again, reflecting the age of when the place was built, but really --- a microwave is about as basic as a telephone, so this place needs to upgrade to the 21st-century standards of what's expected in a kitchen.
Like any apartment complex people come and people go. But since the MURDER there in early 04, I really don't feel safe there. OK the line I got from management (Amy) was the kids were partying from another area and somehow drifted down here (where the SHOOTING happened) - I still don't feel safe. Police were all over the place, but they never came to talk to us and our apartment is very close to the area they had the yellow tape. It's just been very earie since then. I lived in another apartment in Mission Viejo for a while and never felt unsafe there. Again - I think 90% of this place's lifestyle could be improved so dramatically if they changed their focus from just getting "ANY OLD TENANTS" in the place to being far more careful in checking people's background.
Noise is usually OK. Unit below us was blairing cha-cha music last weekend - I called the front office and the problem quickly solved. The folks in the unit (I can't communicate with them - I don't speak good spanish) have always been quiet in the past, so they either got noisy guest for the day, or they got noisy "room mates" for a while. We shall see.
I got in to save some $ so I could move off to a place of my own. This place really reminds me of my lifestle when I was a college student.
IF you can get a move-in special, then keep in mind it's just a basic roof over your head and nothing special - which is all an apartment should be. I got in for $1075 per month for the first 9 months, which then goes to $1275, for a 2 bedroom 1 bath place. If I hadn't got the move-in special then I wouldn't have moved here, based on other places I looked at, and neither should you.
