Check out your new neighbors first.

I have driven by the compex many of times over the past three years and would never consider even lookking at it because it looked like a dive place from the outside. I got a referral from Apt. Search and made it the very last place I checked out. I was impressed by the model and was insistent that I see an actual apartment and was impressed by that apt. I was extremely impressed by the friendliness of the office management.

Needless to say, I rented an apartment here in 11/01 and am moving already, 12/01. Before I had even moved one box into the apt. the upstairs neighbor checked us out and was extremely rude. I moved into an apartment that had been vacant for a few months at least and the building that I'm in has at least 3 other vacant units (8 units to a bldg.) that have also been vacant at least 3-4 months. I don't know if the neighbor just got used to having the bldge. pretty much to herself or its because she doesn't like kids or is just a racist. (My children are --------american) She started making complaints about every little thing the kids did and now we have been asked to move after only 3 weeks here. The office manager (who I never met previously and still never have) states that she never got one complaint from this bldg. before we moved in. Well, if its empty how can you get complaints.

Anyhow, they refuse to work with us at all and now its 2 weeks till Xmas and I have four children and we are looking for a new place to live. We were given our 3 day notice to quit last night so I'm not sure whether to even prepare for Xmas because I don't know when we will be kicked to the street by the courts. So basically, just check out the potential new neighbors first. Maybe, find out which apt. you might be renting and go knock on a few doors first. I actually met two other neighbors in the bldg. and they are very, very pleasant. One even invited my friend and I into their apt. on Thanksgiving so my friend could see how their apt. looked with furniture in it since we moved in here just two days before Thanksgiving. I was very impressed with their friendliness.
