The people in the leasing office are flakey. They will promise you just about anything, but you will have to come back later when someone else is there. You return to talk to that someone else, and they say you have to come back later to talk to yet another someone else. It took us two months to prove that two of us lived here, even though we were both plainly on the lease. Then it took another month to get an assigned parking space alloted to us. In the meantime, we had two cars, but only space to park one.
Parking is obnoxious, especially with the new towing rules. They threaten to tow just about everybody, and the new rules seem to be aimed at towing residents, not uninvited visitors. The parking assignments are random, and because of their mistake, they gave us a parking space that was very far from our apartment.
There is no enforcement of the rules. You're not supposed to park in front of the garages, but everyone parks in random places, and usually they leave thier cars in the middle of the road. A security guard responded to a noise complaint, and just yelled at their balcony to keep it down. They didn't, and he left.
Certain neighbors routinely break the security gate so that it is left open all day and all night. The security guards do their best, but since there is usually only one and he is usually confined to the little box at the front gate, he is not able to constantly watch the back gate.
Some of the neighbors are very loud and rude. The punk kids around here ride their bikes in the middle of the road and will not move out of the way for cars. The kids also run around in groups yelling obscenities at each other. They play tag in the middle of the road and run in front of moving vehicles. Their parents are nowhere to be seen. The other day, a large group of the kids had a loud brawl in front of our building. Most of the adult neighbors were disturbed, and came out to stop the fighting.
Rent goes up every couple of months. We're paying about $1000 for a one-bedroom apartment. Not very reasonable.
It's convenient to have the laundry and dryer available in the apartment.
The maintenence people are very responsive. They come immediately and do their best to help. I had an emergency with a broken drain in a sink, and they came to fix it right away. It was done quickly and hasn't had a problem since.
Oh yeah, the place is crawling with ants, especially during the summer months. They live in the walls of the apartments, but they don't like to spray too much because of health hazards with children. The children's park area in the complex is usually so swarmed with ants during the summer that it is difficult to walk on the sidewalks.
