RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!!

I'm not even sure where to start. Let me try with a list:
1. Don't expect any help from management if you have any kind of maintenance issue. I just settled a small claims action with them out of court because their "maintenance man" attempted to snake the adjoining apartment but ended up blowing through the pipe in my bathroom - causing black smelly sewage to spew about 3" into my bathroom, essentially covering EVERYTHING in this toxic waste. Do you think they even offered to reimburse or replace anything' No. What did they do when I tried to negotiate with them' Put a 3-day notice to pay rent or quit on my door. Nice. Not sure who they thought they were dealing with - but I went directly to small claims and sued their behinds. I'm quite sure I settled for way less than I should have and I'm quite sure if I went to court, they would have paid the ENTIRE amount I asked for. The only reason I didn't was because I'm so completely stressed out about this place. Suffice it to say, when they FINALLY called a PROFESSIONAL plumber out to fix the bathroom, he was cussing out the maintenance man for doing everything wrong, not using the right parts, and apparently making his own contraptions instead of putting proper fittings on the plumbing items.
2. Security - a nightmare. I have on several occasions contacted the office to complain about security. I have asked that they notify the security patrol (although I have yet to actually see a security patrol vehicle on site) to make additional passes by my apartment due to the amount of people lingering outside my window, drinking, cussing, revving engines, having SEX up against my garage - but the best I received was a return email with a phone number of the company for ME to call. Nice. Thanks for the concern about the safety of your tenants.
3. Grounds - ill-kept, to put it nicely. Just drive around - I won't have to say more.
4. "Gated community" is a joke. They should be sued for false advertisement. Simply having gates that remain open 24/7 does not constitute a gated community.
5. Noise - awful. Remember if you reside by someone with kids - you will hear the kids. And that's to be expected. However, if people continually have their toddlers outside at 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. screaming and carrying on - and you notify management and they take it upon themselves to do nothing - not good. At some point the management needs to step up to the plate and let noisy people know that there are others that live around them - and we have the right to peaceful enjoyment of our residences. Ordinary noises are fine. After 10 p.m. - remember you live in an apartment community and be courteous.
6. Pool - disgusting. No way in hell would I step foot in it. I had surgery at the beginning of last summer and used to go out to the pool to sit during the day and after a copule weeks was too disgusted to out there anymore. It smells, it's dirty, people are swimming in their street clothes - it's crazy. Lots, not just a few, but LOTS of babies being brought into the water with saggy diapers. Again, nice. Trust me - the stuff inside the diapers doesn't remain inside the diapers after they're placed in the water. And - the pool is right next to the office. Do you think it's patroled at all - of course not.
7. Oh, security - again: I came up to the office early one morning (around 7 a.m.) to drop something through the office mail slot. Someone startled me by saying, "Hey, do you have a key'" When I looked up at who was talking, there was a very dirty, homeless man INSIDE the gates which lock around the office and the pool. I'm assuming this man hid out in the men's restroom and when the people in the office locked up - no one checked to make sure someone wasn't hiding out - or just inside of - the restrooms. Um . . . WTF'
Seriously - I could go on and on - and I may add to this later but just let it be known, this is THE WORST place I have EVER had the displeasure of renting from.
Take my advice - RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Better yet - just drive through. Take a good look around - that should discourage most reasonable people.

Great post, xenagirl. I know exactly what you mean about this place as being the worst place EVER!!! I moved out while ago, but still get mad every time I remember Laguna Gardens. Looks like you didn??????t have such nice time there and rightfully so. Thank you for your honest post.
Good luck.

Hey Anonymous (office employee, I'm sure) - you probably DO know who I am because you work in the office and know of my complaints - but I'll be gone soon - thank goodness. And yes - EVERYONE - check out the place yourself. I don't need to say any more. Take a good look at the grounds, the outsides of the apartments, and the "gated community" that it boasts of. Make sure you peek in at the pools and "gym" also.

Please, please do take her advice and come on to tour Laguna Gardens. I work for the city and not in the office, thank you. You certainly are the one who complaines to all of us who live around you every chance you get, so why do you think it has to be one of the gals in the office? Wow, are you ever paranoid and again you have all your facts wrong...and there she goes again. The perverbial emotional roller coaster taking flight yet again...Hilarous! Everyone who has had to listen to your constant diatribes of nonsense complaints will not miss you, trust me. We have been here longer than you and wished you had just moved away rather than stayed and complain. Why did you stay if you were so unhappy? If you actually did sue them and they paid you, which I highly doubt, why did you not just move? MOVE ALREADY!

The people in this complex act like they've never seen a white man before. The day I drove through to check with the office about 2 br. availability, I was greeted by a stout hispanic who CRANED HIS NECK to get a better look at me. I returned the favor. Not interested in any way. Hot, desolate, garish and hostile. ---- Laguna Gardens, it was written off within my first 10 minutes.
