Livin' in the hood!

Lake Forest is a beautiful area. Very family oriented and close to the Irvine Spectrum. I have lived at Siena Terrace for over two years and have enjoyed living there for about three months of that time. That three months was when one of my two neighbors moved out. This place really sucks. It is by far the worst place I have ever lived.

The walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbors having sex, taking a shower, closing their cupboard doors, watching TV, walking, and sometimes you can even hear them while they are talking. The oven was a piece of junk. One of the burners didn't work and the other would not turn off. Maintenance took two to three days to come and repair things. When your toilet doesn't work for two days, that's a problem. Parking here was the worst, but they have improved upon it in the last six months or so. Before, if you got at any time after 5pm, you would have to park on the street and walk up a huge hill. But now they give one warning, then tow. So even if you get home at 11pm, you can still find a spot. Another issue with parking is, of you have a garage or parking spot close to the apartment building, people will block you. They will turn their hazard lights on and go into someone's apartment for 30 minutes. Even if you sit out there and honk your horn.

If you live downstairs, you can hear the people above you walking around. If they have a kid, you will hear it all day long. When the people upstairs are at the bathroom sink, you can hear the floor squeaking as they shift their weight around. Also, the entry wall will shake when people go up and down the stairs.

Some of the nice things are ' you get a garage, with a little room to store stuff. There is a washer and dryer in a laundry room on the patio, but you lose this as a storage area if needed. But you got the garage. If you live upstairs, you get a nice vaulted ceiling. If you live downstairs, the ceilings are high. They have a security patrol, but they only really care about the parking. You're supposed to call them to report that your neighbors are too noisy or that someone is blocking your car, but it takes about an hour to show up. The Sheriff's Department is quicker. Sometimes the 'suck'-curity patrol won't even show up. There is also a tennis court, a pool, a 'fitness center', and a couple of jacuzzis.

In regards to the entire complex, they repainted it about six months ago and it does look a lot better. Only problem is, You can't polish a turd. There's no bugs'now. We had a really bad ant problem about a year ago, but I think it was from the dirty neighbors we had. Once they moved out, so did our ants. There are lots of inconsiderate neighbors who play their stereos really loud, bang on the walls, slam their doors and their cupboards, and who just don't about anybody there. I complained to the apartment staff, but they could care less.

A couple of years ago, this place wasn't filled with large hispanic families. I don't mean fat, I mean 15 people in one unit. Now, as you walk around, you will see lots of little kids and lots of toys laying about and little hispanic, wannabe gangbangers walking around. Lots of crap on peoples balconies. For some reason they let them use this as a storage area. There is also a group of skinheads that either live there or just like to hang out in the parking lot. The price might seem right for what you get, but not worth it if you plan on living there for over a month. But, if you are hispanic and have 15 people living with you, then this is the place for you!
