Not too shabby, especially for the price...

The following is a bit lengthy, but if your truly interested in renting an apartment at Westridge, this review will give you an honest and fair idea of what to expect.

The good:

I spent six months living at Westridge, so I?m probably not the best source for a history of the living conditions there. However, I found my time at Westridge satisfactory on almost every level. I found the office staff friendly and cooperative (most of the time) and the maintainaence staff was always friendly and cordial. My girlfriend and I always felt safe about coming home in the wee hours of the morning, taking out the trash late, laundry runs in the middle of the night, etc. We lived on a second floor with vaulted ceilings, so there was no one above us and nothing but garages below us (best of both worlds.) Directly to the northeast side of the apartment complex is a beautiful lush green park. The large grassy area is a great place for Frisbee, soccer, football, etc. Oddly enough, the park rarely has anybody there, making it almost always available (except for Saturdays during soccer season.)

The minor issues:

The 24 hour laundry facility was definitely a positive, except the machines required special cards that could only be charged up in the leasing office using 5, 10, or 20 twenty dollar bills ONLY. The cards frequently error, so I always tried to keep two on me at all times. If your planning to do laundry after the front office has closed and you card errors, or you drain all the funds in the middle of doing laundry, your stuck! I witnessed, on two occasions, someone pulling wet cloths out of the dryer because their card failed, and the office was closed. There are lots of kids at Westridge that typically like to run rampant in the parking lots, in and around the buildings, making for a somewhat treacherous drive inside the complex. However, even though the kids are bouncing balls of the cars during the day, Westrige is very quiet at night, including Saturday and Sunday mornings (except for the occasional 7:00 a.m. Saturday trash pick-up). Many people use their garage for storage, thus taking up the increasingly valuable parking space at Westridge. It?s hit or miss with the available parking, but it is better than most apartments I?ve lived in.

The unit:

I was disappointed with the kitchen and bathroom. The floors in both were badly worn. The counter tops in the kitchen were badly scared, and the cabinets were tired and worn. The carpet was pretty bad, and we probably could have fought to have it replaced, but we had already moved everything in?you know how that goes. The walls looked great! The insulation and construction quality was great. I never heard a bump, thud, or booming (subwoofer) the whole time I was in that unit.

The rest:

We moved out only because we had outgrown the apartment. I was perfectly content at Westridge. For the price, you can?t beat it. It?s hard to find much of anything in South Orange County for less than $1,000 per month, especially in a nationhood of decent quality.
