Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I'm only leasing for a short period because I'm in the area for about six months.
I read the reviews here and asked Brenda, the asst. manager to respond. She addressed people living in the garage saying they have been kicked out and it is expressly not allowed. Supposedly someone cleans the laundry rooms daily.
I went ahead and leased an apartment for six months.
The apartments are clean and fairly well kept. Nice grounds and trees and there is absolutely no road noise. The layout of the one bedroom is good and because of the hilly site, you're not looking directly into another apartment's windows.
Maintenance, however, is another story. These units are old and things tend to break a lot. When I moved in the dishwasher leaked, bathroom sink drain was slow, bathroom fan was non functional. The heating unit is very old and extremely noisy, making a buzzing noise continually whether on or off. I mentioned these things twice to the front office, nothing was done. The heater finally went out about five days after moving in. I typed a letter with all of the things wrong the next morning and dropped it off when I left for work. The heater got fixed that day although I still had to call the office. Still noisy though. Nothing else was done. The front office called me and wanted to know if everything was all right and of course I said nothing but the heater had been fixed. Still nothing done. I suspect the maintenance crew and the front office do not speak to each other and I doubt only but the most critical things get taken care of.
Regarding the laundry situation. The rooms are pretty dirty but seem to get cleaned fairly often. Machines are brand new.
Front office staff is so-so. They say they'll take care of things (cheerfully) but don't. Completely anti-helpful about some things. I think it depends on the particular person.
Should you move here' It depends. Make sure you view your apartment and ask to have the heating unit turned on (they unplugged mine so I didn't hear the noise!) to see if you can live with it. Rents are comparable to other apartments in the area and these do come with garages so that's a plus. Pretty grounds and some apartments face a wall of greenery and can be very private. If you're willing to fuss a lot about critical problems and let not-so-critical stuff go you should be ok here.
