This apartment complex doesn't look like much, but I've really enjoyed living here so far. Maintenance people have been beyond good. We had problems our first day here but they fixed them that same day. I really appreciate how nice they've been. We don't really have to talk to the office staff a whole lot, which is good. We weren't really sure what to expect considering our first week or so of maintenance issues and whatnot. I must say that my opinion of the office staff improved as they seem to have gotten a little more strict with their rules about garages and laundry room hours. I really hope that they keep it up.

Parking may be an issue for folks with more than one car, but we have only the one and the garage we have is perfect for it. Some people use their garages for storage so they may not have room for their cars, which might make the parking situation worse for some.

As far as the actual apartment goes, it's nothing special.

* The apartment is small but my one-bedroom is the perfect amount of space for two people and a cat.

* The walls are on the thin side but we haven't had much problem with noise. We hear outside noise but it's tolerable/ignorable.

* The kitchen doesn't have a lot of counter space, but if you're creative enough you can work around that.

* The closets in the bedroom are very awkward, but there's plenty of space for our king-sized bed and a dresser (or even two if you need it).

* We've had an inexplicable ant problem since moving in (they're gone now though). I think it's just the hot weather because they were interested in our sinks and shower.. oh and our cats food. We just sprayed some home defense spray around our doors, windows, and the baseboards and it wasn't an issue after that.

I moved here because I'm going to school full time so the price is what attracted me. It's been an improvement from my $1600/month RSM apartment which was a surprise. Not much on the outside but a lot more comfortable than I expected on the inside.

"...Parking may be an issue for folks with more than one car..." you are right, if we have 2 cars, we probably shouldn't consider living here. If we have problems with our unit and needed service, just contact the maintenance people directly and bypass the office staff ( that happened to be my experience also). seems like Westridge is peculiarly suitable for your situations even with all the issues you have, there is always a BUT to excuse from them, count the BUTs in your statements " The apartment is small but... The walls are on the thin side but ... Parking may be an issue for folks with more than one car, but ... The kitchen doesn't have a lot of counter space, but ... The closets in the bedroom are very awkward, but..." Your undesirables become acceptables. You even take care of the ants condition with pesticides(?) on cats food. If you have lived there long enough, the ants come in even from the electrical outlets, stay tuned. Small advice, my wife never use toxic sprays, she had to tape up the outlets and ants path, clean very well after eating. I haven't seen many apt charging $1600/month during this depressed time, have those suckers at your ex. all moved in Westridege yet?

Some people are willing to pay $1600/month to live in RSM. Newer apartments with bigger rooms were worth the money for awhile. We liked our last apartment a lot, we just needed to move into a new place to free up some money for school and be just a little bit closer to family. Every apartment has problems. I'm trying to objectively point out what problems I've seen from this place and show how we've been able to see past them and work with them. For example, we had walk-in closets in our last apartment. The closets here are definitely not walk-ins, HOWEVER there is more than enough room for our large bed and more than one dresser. So, if someone sees the closet situation as an issue, you can see that there's a decent solution without dismissing this place entirely (if closets are the deal breaker for you). Also, as far as our ant problem is concerned, we haven't seen ants for several weeks now. We clean our cat's food bowls in the sink, just FYI. And, we sprayed around the edges of our apartment including doors and windows. In fact, I took my cat out of the apartment entirely while my boyfriend made sure that not only had the spray worked, but that it was cleaned up afterwards. We personally never had to touch our electrical outlets, but you're right it might happen in the future. At least we know what works for us in getting rid of them.

Hi CA Agosta, I would also rate by the management quality, whether they care about the residence and not to treat them like garbages once they moved in. They raised my rent above the infaltion rate by a mile every time the lease is up, they were betting that I wouldn't bother to go thur the hassles to move, guess what? they lose! One can always find better deal especially during this economy down time. I moved to a condo, I pay less rent, I don't have to pay water, sewage, garbage, insurance ...etc. I even have a washer/dryer inside the unit and I have a small walkin closet, those are all real savages.
