I suppose that the first thing you want if you move to Lakewood Manor is a good courtyard. If you have good neighbors, the experience is better. There is no doubt the place is a bit "ghetto". If you consider this "flavor" instead of the Orange County over-priced apartments in all of their lily-whiteness, you'll save some money. There is diversity; plenty of college students abound, and the people are definitely working class. The grounds are well-kept. Maintenance is prompt. Ants and roaches have been minor problems in my Hayter Avenue 2 bedroom, and seem to be seasonal (i.e., rain). The staff in the office has always been friendly, and they are responsive. As of 10/19/2006, I am paying $1275 (6 month lease) for an 806-sq foot 2 bdrm. I think this is a tad overpriced, but shoot, it is NOT Compton. Or even Paramount. It's better than south Downey, too. Lastly, concerning the parking--I've only had one car while I've been living here, but there is more parking I believe reasonably close because of the Presbyterian Church on Hayter; they offer use of their parking lot at night to our residents. (Incidentally, judging from the outreach of those Presbys, you could do a lot worse in churchin' then to join that particular congregation. I've talked to them more often than a lot of the people in my courtyard.)
