I am a current resident on the way out Very soon. I've lived here for 5 years, and my best friend has lived here for 11 years without much problem. In fact, it was a decent place to live. But now we have a new management company who bought the entire complex for 23 million dollars and has decided to make many unnecessary changes. The new manager is highly incompetent, if you wanted a generous review. For example, about a week ago, lightning struck a power line behind the complex. During which the management is no where to be found, or answering any phones. You can't get anything fixed in your apartment for weeks, and when you ask the management for progress, I quote,"...assure you that maintenance cannot help because they are making more important improvements to empty apartments." -George the manager. There have been numerous increases in both rent and things that never used to cost extra. We now have to pay 25 dollars per car just to park here when it was free before. This is extra ridiculous since parking is horrible anyway. If you don't have a space, you must park a block away in front of a church that continuously has cars towed for insignificant offenses like parking too just a bit more than 18 inches from the curb. The management raises the rent every couple of months via lottery. I think that this is a bit excessive since it's not like this place is very safe. I mean in 2003, some guy who lived here robbed a local business across the street and hid out in his previous apartment where he was squatting after murdering a fellow resident who refused to let him in the gate. However the worst part about the new management is that my mother lives with me and was injured at work. She had to have knee surgery rendering her unable to walk. When we asked if we could get a downstairs apartment, they ignored us for months. When they finally got to us, we were told that there were going to be lots of fees, and it really would have been cheaper to just move out and pay the move in fees as if we were never here at all. Then a week later they told us that they were going to ask for 700 dollars more per month plus a transfer fee, an admin fee, etc. In all, the new owners, George the new manager, his assistant Karen, and the rest of his team, are totalitarianists looking to drive out the previous tenants with a slew of money making terrorism, and exploit the renters market with high priced rooms the size of jail cells with about as much charm.

I disagree with the negative bashes that have been made against Olivewood Apartments. I have lived here sine 1997 and have had a pleasent stay here at Olivewoood. Yeah the management has recently changed and its an adjustment period. There are its pros and cons that come with the new change. Yes there has been some increases that I do not agree with, but the community has seen lots of much needed improvements in the short time of the new owners. I did not have to pay an extra $25 dollars to park in the complex, so I have no idea where that is coming from. The management staff has been more than helpfull with any repairs that I have had. They have been taken care of with in one week.

I also disagree with the negative bashes, I've also lived here many years and have yet to have anything negative to say except for a number of non-resident people parking inside the complex taking assigned parking from tenants as well as parking in front of garages in the no parking areas, in the red zones. And what also is very irritating is that the very same people are waiting in their cars at the gate waiting for the residents that have a remote to open the gate so they can drive their vehicle out of and also into the complex. happens way too often. I really wish the management would enforce the towing the violators vehicles away.
