We've lived at Larkspur Courts for almost 2 years now, and we're very happy there. We have a top floor unit, so it's very quiet. The grounds are kept up nicely. The pool and hot tubs are always very clean. The Gym is also great, but could use some new equiptment. The services is also very good, maintenance calls are attended to right away. The storage units are big and right outside each apartment. The washer and dryer are a true blessing. Compared to some neighboring apartment complexes, this is by far the nicest.
However, it is very expensive. It's promoted as luxury, but it's not. Our unit has old kitchen cabinets (just the doors need to be replaced) and dingy carpet. The appliances are a little old, but in good working order. In general, I feel that these apartments have "cheap" construction. So I do not feel the condition of the apartments warrant the prices. But I am willing to pay the high rent for the convenience to the ferry and the amenities. Also, our 1-bedroom, is very big. I would just love to have new kitchen cabinet doors and new carpet, that would really make it perfect.
The community is a bit snobbish. The office staff does their best to add to the "snobbish" atmosphere, especially Cherie. Cherie will pass right by a tenant in jeans to attend to a tenant in a suit, if you know what I mean, and she's not the brightest either. Nancy has always been very professional and pleasant, and far more trustworthy. I tried to avoid Cherie, and work with Nancy whenever possible. I feel that Nancy is very good at her job, and manages the apartment complex well.
All in all, we are very happy living at Larkspur courts, and will probably continue to do so for another year. It would be great if they would offer to upgrade the apartments of existing tenant's. I do think they have upgraded some vacant apartments, but I would love to be offered new carpet in ours.
(One last note, the cable service is through Clearbay Communications and it's a really bad set up, but basically the only choice we have, as I think satellites are strongly discouraged. I hate the cable set up, we "rent" the (very old) converter boxes from clearbay, and they pay for full cable from Direct TV, so our total costs are about $100 a month.)
I would highly recommend living here with the advice that you will not meet too many friendly neighbors, and the cable set up is poor.

I agree with everything except that when Cherie was working here, I had no problem with her, she was always pleasant to me. Now, the staff here is very nice. As of October 28, 2008, I have been living here for almost two years and I love it. Neighbors are friendly, the place is kept clean and everything that the other resident has said is true. It is overpriced, but residents pay for the convenience of the location. Some of the doors in my kitchen drawers and my bathroom don't close properly and you can see that one of the windows of the living room does not quite close perfectly. I guess the building worked a bit and the window is at a slight angle compare to the frame. Oooh well! I looove the fact that I have a washer and a dryer in my apartment! I don't have to waste time getting quarters or waiting for a dryer to become available (I know some complexes use cards instead of quarters). Before I moved here, I did A LOT of research and this complex is one of the best in Marin County.
The problem that I have seen is that the administration raises the rents everytime the wind blows...(I am exagerating a little, but not much, I tell you!). We can see moving trucks almost every week as people are leaving because of the rent increases. They should use SOME common sense when it comes to rent. Other than that, this place is a really nice place to live.

we ARE becoming new tenants, and because we have had had 'success'-or developed mutual respect as reneters.the biggest rule of thumb is to remember that the Main Companies Onsite representatves are human beings ,and I have heard that the current group has been selected after complaints about others.
We have been both lucky and have also had to work to ubderstand over our 35 yrs of renting, how to co exist and not blame.
These are very nice places to rent and we are honored to be
moving there.
By working together with the goals tenants need in mind, sometimes things may take time, but that would indicate that one's own issues will be given as much time as is required for our individual needs.
Considering the economy, and the amenities that are in the units,we feel kucky to begin our tenancy here
As stated-over 30 years -but only about 3 moves-genwrally do to sales of apartment properties ,or rennovations that required removal of all tenants ,plus an offer to "buy" the (pretty diaoidated old paces)at a fortune-after a minimum year PLUS wait.
We hope to be good tenants and strive be good neighbors as well
