A Rarity

This place is awesome. First of all you'll notice the old-style feel of the building. It was built about 80ish years ago and it was done right. The walls separating the apartments from the hallway and other apartments are solid concrete - SOLID CONCRETE! You can't hear ANYTHING from any other apartment! The only way I hear anything is if I have a window open and the noise bounces off of another building from one of the other apartments. Its truly awesome! The building is centrally located to everything I need from grocery stores to entertainment - I've been able to cut down my driving by over 50%. The parking is tight in the garage but very convenient considering parking in that area is hell - I'm just glad there's parking, period, much less a secured area. There's a really sweet roofdeck overlooking Long Beach with a view from Signal Hill to the Pacific Ocean. It's really cool because you can tell people care about the place - there's a garden up there with all kinds of neat stuff arranged all over. Inside my apartment are hard wood floors all around which I like and all utilities included which makes me never want to move anywhere else just by itself... the negatives I would have to say are some older appliances like the kitchen sink itself and.. well.. that's pretty much it. The stove has to be from before world war 2 but I'll tell ya what - that thing is about as strong and effective as a tank! No wonder they kept it in there - I love it! Lots of natural light with a cool view (even from the 2nd floor!). The manager, Bret, is awesome as well. He is totally cool with you painting the unit or whatever you would like to do. People really have an opportunity to take pride in their apartment and do it up - I have never seen this before. Usually you're not allowed to sneeze a certain way or you'll be breaking the lease. I've seen some of the apartments people have been able to work on and they are truly beautiful! The elevator is kind of cool too - think old-style New York with the sliding doors and all that stuff. It goes all the way from the garage/basement to the 5th floor. The people in the building are really cool and I have made a few friends. People seem to stay at this place for a long time - that tells you something doesn't it' Oh yeah, there's an awesome recessed yard outside below street level that is very well maintained and just provides an awesome "unique-ness" to the place that I haven't seen anywhere else in Long Beach. Also, the building is a historical landmark (and for good reason) so don't worry about it going anywhere!

If you're looking for an awesome building with a cool down to earth manager (who lives in one of the units!) then look no further.

Good luck getting a unit though - people rarely move out!!! I sure as hell know I'm not going anywhere. :)
