From the outside this looks like an ideal place to live in Long Beach. Before you decide to settle here consider:
1. If you venture out of your apartment you are in an area of Long Beach where you may decide to think twice before venturing out after dark. The neighborhood has not gone as upscale as the apartment complex.
2. check out the parking garage, it was designed by an idiot. There is ample parking but you will have to nudge your car into a spot where you can actually open the doors and exit the vehicle. The layout of the garage is a nightmare. Who ever designed this should have their license taken away.
3. The pools look great, one is rather nice, the other is an ice bath.
4. NOISE - not from the residents, but from the never ending traffic on Ocean Blvd and starting at 6 AM the very loud echoing traffic from the port of Long Beach and port of LA big-rigs. I wake up at 6 and pop in my ear plugs to be able to go back to sleep.
5. They charge for everything. When you check out the place, they have no idea of the cost of utilities. You end up getting charged for water and trash which they tell you about, but you also get a gas bill every month round $40 to heat the water. This is not identified in the lease.
6. The furnished apartment they show is huge by comparison to what you end up with. Insist on seeing the apartment that they are offering you.
7. Building noise - right to the north is a multi year construction of over priced for the area condos, that goes on week days and most Saturdays - with the wonderful beep beep of backing up cement trucks.
8.To the west a new hotel will be going up over the next couple of years, adding significantly to the noise.
9. Beware going to the local shopping areas. There are a lot of unfortunate people who should be on stronger meds. You may be confronted even pumping gas into your car.
10. The harbor view is mostly the tops of the parking garages for the pike. The best thing about the location is you can walk to the movies.
11. Notes have started to be posted in the elevators warning of break ins in the parking structure.
12. Have never heard noise from apartments below or adjoining. Stay away from the apartments near the elevator and the trash room.
