Spend your money elsewhere!!!

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
I'm a current tennant, in building #3 (of 5). I am home all day for past 7 months, the construction, which will be going on for the next 4 years to the west right next to building) will drive you bonkers. It is NEVER quiet. Once they leave around 4:30ish pm on weekdays and Saturdays, its constant noise in the pike parking garage. Also, for the last two months, the callbox entry system to the P1 parking entrance off of seaside way for our complex has been going bonkers.. imagine your phone's off the hook tone, loudness magnified by 1000, constantly for on average 20 minutes, sometimes up to two hours! With all windows and doors shut, you can still hear every bit of this, its of no use to close them.
The windows and doors are drafty, nothing is ever done to fix it. The outsides of the windows are so dirty from dust etc and the harbor crap, you can hardly see out of them. The cleaning crew hardly cleans inside the buildings. Dogs are allowed, constant barking from them. Owners let them PEE IN THE ELEVATORS, and DO NOT CLEAN IT UP! The cleaning crew just LEAVES IT THERE. It smells sooooooo bad for weeks. Lights are constantly going out inside the building and up the steps. Building #3 has a HUGE ant problem.
If you lock your keys inside, or lose them or they are stolen, forget it, you get ONE time free, after that, 50$, and it takes about an hour for them to get there. No onsite fix-it crew, especially after hours. If you need something fixed, be prepaired to wait at least two days, no matter what the emergency is, and if you let them in your apartment when you're not home, you're lucky if they don't snoop through your stuff. They also have the same cable guy going around at places( old black man with HUGE disgusting mole on his forehead), he badgers you into getting cable, will not leave you alone.
They treat you like idiots and small children constantly. Flyers everywhere like in gradeschool. Its ridiculous the amount of flyers stating the same BS over and over again. "Don't leave bikes etc on your balcony" "Don't put boxes down the trash chute" "Watch your car from vandalism"... it never ends... yet NOTHING IS EVER DONE TO THE PEOPLE THAT DO ALL THAT STUFF!!!!
You get one parking pass per person, the parking security still gives you tickets and citations even when you do have it in your window like youre supposed to. If you park a car in there for half a day without a pass you get a notice about it usually, but the same truck can sit in the garage, NOT EVER MOVING for 7 months collecting 4 inches almost of dirt and dust on it with flat tires, in a PRIME parking spot, with NO notice or citation. How fair is that''' It took until almost 8 months now to get it towed away. People drive like bats out of hell in the garage, like there are no other cars or people around in it. Lots of car vandalism and break ins, in a "secured and patroled garage" as the complex clearly states when you move in. The mail boxes are in the garage. If the mailman misses a piece or two, sometimes all your mail, instead of opening your box back up, he leaves it on top, where you have to struggle to reach if youre short, for the whole world to look through and take if they want.. identity theft anybody''' They never empty the trash down there often, stinks to high heavens. Oh, and you can't even throw a pizza box down the trash shute, you have to go ALL the way down stairs or in the elevator to put it outside the trash room door.
7, almost 8 months of being here, where's the still promised booming retail shops''' There is still just one pizza place (which is good by the way) and just recently, a century21 place, and a geriatic doctor center. Oh yeah, that's booming retial for all of us residents, which are primarily young people! The right side grill at the pool never works, and when it does by chance work, never properly or easily.. leaving only one grill. The pool is often cloudy and or has junk at the bottom of it that looks like poop. The other pool is always ice cold.
The office girl, which always changes, is ALWAYS an idiot, so don't hold your breath on her even knowing how to look up your unit or put in a work order for you in under 15 minutes, much less if you need to pick up a package from the package room when there isn't the occassional attendant at the desk. The rent prices they list are about 50-100 higher than they tell you.. the cheapest price is 1520/month, for 585 sqfeet one bed/one bath in a midrise building. Oh, if you like to conserve water, trash, and gas.. don't bother.. you're bill will be higher still. They divide those three things by building sqfootage/unit. I have the smallest unit, my average is 40-50/month. And the electricity, don't even get me started- only one company, 100/month during summer with air set at 74-76 degrees, sometimes higher.. and during the winter (starting in jan) its 50 /month. Youre only allowed a certain amount per unit, based on size.. but they don't mention that your refrigerator takes up MORE than youre allowed per day.
You can hear everything going on in the hall no matter what unit you have.. you can hear below you, above you.. and I swear the cleaning crew play kickball or something on the roof all the time, as I'm a top floor, corner, NO SHARED WALLS unit and it sounds like elephants are up there rampaging on a weekly basis. I can also hear the dog owners below us walking around in their apartment. There is no sound insulation period! The paint, don't touch it at all, it flakes off if you even look at it with a mean face.. which you'll get charged for when you move out! The smoke alarms go off for no reason almost daily.
If you live off of seaside way, hope you don't like sleeping before 10pm on weeknights and weekends.. as you'll hear drunk idiots all night across the street, as well as over at the pike and at the bus stop right by the buildings. Also many drunk idiot residents in and around buildings at ALL HOURS of the day/night.
The office team sucks monkey balls seriously! They have some new guy that goes around pissing residents off, forgot his name, but he's a mousy spanish looking tallish guy with glasses, very skinny. Always getting into your personal business and telling you can't do things youre paying rent to do! This is NOT a complex that is kid friendly.. lots of alcoholic/slutty (barely clothed, profanity yelling, pees in the parking garage floor) people in and around the buildings constantly, most are residents.. this is a college/middle aged coorperate-but never home type complex! And if you want out of your lease early, you'll be paying 4-5k to do so.. unless youre lucky enough to get health code workers to help. The cardio theater in the gym also NEVER works right, if at all--they always make a big deal out of it when looking. Oh, and the onsite security they rave about... they don't do anything but walk around with a little clip board. They don't stop anything, they don't give tickets, they don't take care of unruly disorderly conduct with residents or the public.. they sit around with their thumb up their butts and wait til its over to call the LBPD.. and they can't do anything once its over...
The ONLY thing they keep up around here.. the plants and flowers. So if youre not one of those... or a tree.. don't bother living here. The aggrevation and overpriced crap isn't worth it! Oh yeah, one other thing they're excellent at.. hiding in the back of the office and not doing anything! I sooooooo f-ing regret signing not a year lease, but a 14 month lease!!! You know, in case they raise the rent when the new year starts.. if you have a 14 month one it'll keep yours from going up at the end of the year.. at least that's what they claim. I seriously wish I'd have just saved money and rented out a little studio or one bedroom apartment down by the beach at Belmont Shore. I wish I had had these reviews last July!!! Oh yeah, rent is due on the first, LATE BY THE 5th, but they DON'T TRY TO CASH CHECKS UNTIL THE 9TH OR 10TH every month. So always watch your bank statement so you don't overdraw after the 5th!
