Where shall I start'
The management is the worst compare to any other apartment complex(at least 5 of them) we have lived in. Their actions show that the residents are nothing but money cows. They won't speak to you unless you have money to give them. When you have packages delivered to the office, it usually takes about 30 minutes from the time you tell them until you get the package. Since we have moved almost 9 months ago, the staff has been changed at least 3-4 times. It seems like something fishy is going on there. As if employees shouldn't be sticking around for too long. They hardly answer your calls and are poorly organized. When you go in the office, it looks as if they don't know what their job is. After we have signed the lease 9 months ago, I kept asking for a copy of it, but I got it after almost 3 months which I think its unacceptable. The excuse was that it hasn't been filed, so come back tomorrow. I don't even think its the exact same one we signed in the first place.
In the 9 months that we have lived here, the pool has been cleaned only once, and that was about 6 months ago. The water looks yellowish and on the edges of the pool, there is somekind of black oilly residue. There are no toilets or showers. The 2 grills they have are always broken. I do have to say that the landscape is nicely done and kept clean but unfortunately it doesn't make up for the negatives of this place. During summer time, make sure you stock up on mosquito repelent sprays because you'll be invaded if you're living by the pool.
The noise is a big problem. Not only there is noise coming from the street, but the people living here are inconsiderate of others. At 2-3 o'clock in the morning someone decides to turn up the volume on their stereo so that everyone can listen to country, jazz or mexican music. Other nights, people decide its time to go swiming and splashing when everyone is sound asleep. I don't have to mention the parties, people arguing or just having intercourse. I guarantee it you can hear them all. Don't even bother calling security. They won't do anything about it.
The garage is filthy, the trash cans are always overflowing. The elevators are so slow, you have to wait at least 5 minutes or more for them. Interestingly, there are no stairways that you can take from the garage to the upper floors. None. So you're stuck waiting for the elevator. Fortunately, we didn't have our car broken into like the other residents have, but sometimes they post letters warning us of theft. Where is the security, that is more concerned with giving tickets if your registration is expired or your parking number is not placed where they can see it than it is with your safety'
There are bums all around the buildings, across the street and in some corners the stinch of pee is disguisting. Don't even bother going past 2nd street, you'll find yourself in a totally different town. Make sure you lock your doors, if you're walking, hang tight to your purse and don't stare at anyone for too long. To let you know, the post office on Long Beach Blvd. has at least 3 inches bullet proof glass. I don't have to mention the banks, and some other stores.
I can keep going but you get the point.
FIND SOME OTHER PLACE TO RENT, even if its cheap looking, they will probably treat you better.

Agreement! The staff members don't care and the architects didn't design the buildings well. There is little, if any ventilation. Too few elevators and limited access when they don't work (which is a lot). Being older, it's very much aparant to me that CHV is not age-friendly. It's more like a glorified college dormatory.
