Love-Hate Relationship

We lived here in the higher-rise buildings that were directly on Ocean for 3 years. We had a love-hate relationship, as you can tell from my review title.
On one hand, the price, location, and amenities were wonderful. I mean.. we had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, plus a den all for about $2400/month. Now living in Pasadena, we paid $1900 for a 1 bed/1 bath... so the prices in Long Beach are much more of a steal. The two pools, the walks to the beach, the mini-gym...all were very nice and accommodating.
So...what did we NOT like about Camden Harbor View' The leasing office. Apparently, a good deal of other reviewers agree that the office has terrible service. They sweet talk ya into moving in and are oh-so-nice when you first meet them. The minute you sign that lease... you're hooked, they know it, and the nice act stops.
On numerous occasions, when picking up packages left at the leasing office, all the employees would be helping potential new residents (of course, while doing their sweet-talk act) and many of us residents would just be standing there, twiddling our thumbs...one time we were standing there for 25 minutes (we wanted to test em). Of course, we understood that they were helping someone, but a glance up and a "We'll be with you shortly" would have been a nice acknowledgment. Other employees who were not currently helping others were perfectly happy just making their coffee, laying out their complimentary cookies, etc. instead of helping any of us waiting for some service.
On another occasion, I went to pick up a package that UPS had dropped off. They look in their holding room and to my despair... LOST MY PACKAGE. Now, I am pretty forgiving...I understand mistakes happen. The fact that they lost my package, that definitely frustrated me, but what angered me was that the people in the office were not even a bit apologetic. Instead, they asked "Well, nothing in your package is of life-value right' It's not like medicine that will save your life, etc.'" Are you kidding me''' That's the only time it'd matter to you' Money is money and unless I see my package soon, you best be payin up. Luckily, the company that I had ordered my package from sent me another one free of charge.
All in all, living here was pretty nice, pretty decent...until you have to deal with the leasing office. Besides our encounters with the leasing office, Camden is a decent place to live.
