Burglaries. Parking gate broken for weeks. Usurious rent increases. Criminal neighbors. Filthy hallways and an unsanitary gym. It makes me sick that there is a company "Archstone" that is worth billions.

We moved into Archstone Westside when it was a few months old. They had a CRAZY deal going on to sign the lease -- 99 bucks down and two months free. We couldn't resist. At first, things seemed okay but we quickly noticed issues all over the place. I alluded to many of them in the first rant, but I have yet to mention the fact that they never cleaned our AC filter (disgusting), the sink rusted, the refrigerator is the cheapest GE on the market and makes growling noises all day and night (a GE maintenance person assure me this was normal for such a piece of junk) -- let's see here... I witnessed multiple tenants going ballistic at management, shopping carts were left all over the building, one of the two huge planters in front of the building was broken and was never fixed (maybe it still isn't)... the barbeques are always clogged and won't start -- imagine thawing out $50 worth of Omaha Steaks to find THAT out. There's more...

We lived there for two years. They tried to raise our rent by something insane like $350 a month and that wa with another full year lease. Otherwise it could have been as high as $700 more a month! Almost all of our neighbors left.

Maintenance that was performed ws of low quality. Whether it be painting the mantle because of a faulty fireplace or fixing a window screen that ripped due to palm fronds hitting it incessantly, which were themselves uncared for. The office staff all have smiley demeanors but wait until you stand up for your rights. It's a stonewall and zero responsibility.
