When you live at an Archstone property, you are paying a few hundred dollars more a month for peace of mind in terms of service and amenities - you would think. This place offers a business center, pool, fitness room, and covered parking. When I lived here, the garage doors were permanently broken so it was not a secured garage. NO APOLOGIES were ever given to the tenants about this while we shelled out the bucks for "security." Peoples bikes got stolen all the time, and I know a resident who had their tires slashed. Management didn't even offer to look at the security cameras.
The business center is fine, there are three computers and a printer. Almost everyone I know these days has a computer and internet connection now, especially is you can afford to live at Archstone, so I didn't care too much for the business center.
The pool is fine, but on the weekends, it is overcrowded with little kids and who wants to go in a pool with a bunch of kids peeing in the pool'!
The fitness center would be the most useful of all the amenities to me - I thought I'd save on not getting a gym membership and the convenience of having it downstairs would make me workout more. Well, I ended up shelling out $100 a month on a gym membership because the gym STINKS - literally and figuratively. It smells like a mixture of chemicals, rubber (like you are working out in a tire store), and b.o. There is always a wait for the elliptical. And there is one older resident who makes so much noise while working out, kinda freaks me out being in there alone with him.
So, my conclusion is - the extra money you are paying in rent isn't worth it here. The amenities, at least for me, didn't end up being worthwhile.
Management tries to lure you in with what they call 100% satisfaction guaranteed but DON'T TAKE THE BAIT. That is an EMPTY PROMISE!! Ask them what it means because it didn't do anything for me when I was unsatisfied with the roaches in the hallways and silverfish everywhere.

You can't blame the apartments for overcrowded pool and weird residents who work out in the gym--I'm sure they aren't crazy about you, either! Furthermore, all gyms smell weird. I love living here. I've been here three years and have yet to see roaches and silverfish. People like you are never satisfied anywhere. At least give a fair review.
