From what I have been hearing the current residents at the Bixel have been examining the progress that is being made. I have seen two new water heaters, which can be seen in the water room if you go by the side of the building that leads to the managers office. They are red. Also, there has been new tiling in the bathrooms. The floors have been taken up of the old rugs, being replaced with some kind of hardwood flooring. The windows are entirely reconstructed. The elevator mechanisms have been redone. However the cage one of the workers reported to me could not be changed. It will still have the old two doors that have to be pulled aside manually, and the fit is still small. The last phase is in May, and it may last 4 more months, which would mean until August 2011, but my guess is Sept. as Phase 1 ends mid-March. It was supposed to end February 11th, 2011, as it began October 11, 2010.
Out of the 18 who left the Bixel for Phase One, there are now 16 left. They get to stay at the relocation hotel until mid-March. Most that I have talked to are pessimistic about the social environment when they return, as well as I. In a former review I got an anonymous harrassment. This is to be expected when we return, unless the manager can turn things around, which is not an easy job.
