Continental has its ups and downs

I've lived here since Feb 2009. I'm half way through my lease and I will absolutely not be renewing it. I was sold on this being a rather social building and I have to tell you that most people tend to keep to themselves. Had I known that - I wouldn't have chosen it because being social makes me happy. Thus, I am not happy.
My place is nice. I like it. It's got old architectural charm and a killer view - but it stops there. I don't own a car because it's too much of a pain in the butt and VERY expensive here. I seriously rent a car from Enterprise (located at Pershing Square) 2 - 4 times a month. So on the parking/community aspects -- YIKES!
The management are nice enough people, but again, they really did sell themselves and the building as a social product and it's oppposite of that. It's anti freakin' social. I started a facebook page for the building for goodness sakes. Me!'
There are some nice eateries in walking distance but Broadway is little Mexico and I hate it. The homeless situation is everywhere and it's not pleasant. I feel awful for these people and I don't necessarily want to live around people I feel awful for.
Downtown is just a dirty place. It has its charm and upside-- but I'm a beach guy so I can't wait to say good bye to this place. Honestly, the lady at another loft place on 8th/Flower offered to buy me out of my contract here when I told her I signed -- I should have taken her up on it. I would have been much happier.
If you're a hermit and anti social -- the continental is for YOU!
