I ADORE my home. This is a beautiful, 1920's, old Hollywood, historic landmark building. It has been renovated in beautiful taste, kept beautifully, all while reflecting it's original and authentic elegance. It has GIGANTIC apartments that have character and charm along with tons of space, separate dining rooms and kitchens (even in the studios!!)huge walk -in closets (YES!!!! L
ladies, I said closets, as in multiple ones per apartment)
I was looking for a studio in the Mid Wilshire area and saw apartments that were totally unsecure and were just a small box room, one window, with a "kitchen" along a wall and a bathroom the size of a coat closet. No utilities included, no parking, no extra storage or closet, extra $ per month for a pet(s).....Then I found The DuBarry. I honestly thought it would have to be too good to be true, but several months into my lease, I am going NOWHERE!!! My studio apartment is well under what those other studios I was looking at AND it is ALL utilities included (electric, water, gas, trash). My apartment is HUGE. It has TWO walk-in closets, a separate dining room, a separate full kitchen, a hallway to the bathroom that has a built-in vanity, a built-in dressser, ANOTHER small closet, a full bathroom with both a shower (not huge) and a bathtub (old-school really big, deep tub), gorgeous and tall french windows (two in the living area and two in the dining
room), plus windows in the kitchen and bathroom. There is laundry on site. They accepted BOTH my dogs with a one time $200 pet deposit for the 1st pet and $100 for an additional. Paid and done. It is a controlled access building. I really enjoy the majority of the people I have interacted with in the building. The parking on the street can get tricky from time to time, but there is a garage a block over that rents spaces, monthly for the same amount, I believe, that the apartment building charges for those people who do have a spot.
I have seen a one bedroom, recently, and they are just ridiculously spacious and again, I believe, one bedroom do get the choice of a parking spot, right away.....just good luck having one available!!
As for the area, I am a single girl and I feel safe and secure in and around my building. It is maintained well. There is some "signs" of the dogs at times, it is, after all, a dog friendly area...all I know is that I curb mine and encourage everyone else to do the same!!
The staff is adequate and accommodating. We have recently had a change in the building management, and while I had no major complaints with the original one I had (except a small lack of urgency), this new one does seem better and very interested in the condition of his building and it's tenants. When I have needed anything done or had any questions, he has been all over it.

ha! this is 100% a dubarry-posted or -sponsored post. Prospective tenants: read the other reviews of the DuBarry before posting-- this is just a troll from management trying to counter the otherwise 0% ratings from everyone else. Hilarious!
