The Good And The Bad

Ok I've noticed that a lot of people writing these reviews either had a horrible experience or a wonderful one, I'll give you the good and the bad. I've lived at Franklin Plaza for about 6 months and at first I did not want to live here at all but I had to find an apartment fast and they were quick to rent to me. When I first moved in I noticed a lot of small problems. My apartment is extremely dark. At noon it looks like it's midnight if the lights are off...seriously I get no sunlight whatsoever because my view is blocked my the apartment next door so when I look out of my window I see a big fence. Not appealing. The kitchen is horrible. The sink takes about 8 years to get even remotely warm and there are pipes in the crooked cabinets so I can only use one for food. Also the hot tub didn't work. There were no bubbles and it was freezing. The first manager, Jennifer, was amazing. She was nice, helpful and approachable. Then we got a new manager. I believe his name was Keith Hang. He was HORRIBLE!!! He was trying to kick people out for no reason. He tried to kick my neighbors out for stepping on his foot on accident!! He was also extremely racist and an ------- on a power trip. That was when the problems got out of control. Then we got a new manager who is very lovely. She's very kind and really seems to care about her tenants....BUT...now there are a whole new mess of problems. The main concerns are noise and plumbing. It's impossible to sleep here. The tenants throw parties just about every night where they get extremely drunk and loud BLASTING their music til 6 in the morning. They're either in their apartments or at the pool making it impossible for me to get to sleep. Finally when the parties end at the crack of dawn, you hear the construction which sounds like jackhammers nonstop until about 4....my HORRIBLE upstairs neighbors are CONSTANTLY being loud. Either they're stomping away with what has to be extremely large feet or they decide they need to rearrange their apartment at 2 in the morning where I hear their furniture scraping against the floor. Or how about the time they poured about 20 gallons of water of their balcony which happened to land on mine below it. Oh how I hate them. We've tried to ask them to be a little quieter but they just got louder and then stopped answering their door when we knocked. But I can't say every tenant is like them so I wouldn't be concerned with that, just try to get an apt on the 3rd floor and you should be fine, but that brings me to the next issue. Plumbing. I already mentioned to water in the kitchen never getting hot, but the bathroom is a whole new story. The toilet constantly makes a bubbling sound n I will go to look and there will be soap bubbles filling my toilet bowl. It's extremely bizarre. It also never flushes completely and you have to hold the handle down until the water goes down or it wont flush. The shower...OMFG....the water takes forever to go down the drain so a 10 minute shower ends up with the tub full, then after an hour when it finally goes down, you're left with a brown dirty bathtub because not only does water not go down, dirty water comes up from the drain for no reason. Dark brown or black dirty water. it's disgusting. But there are some good parts to living here. The location is great. Its right by hollywood blvd so its close to the action, but far enough that its a nice, quiet, safe neighborhood. It's pet friendly. I don't personally own a pet, but I know many of you do and it's very close to Runyon Canyon Park. Also the gym is fantastic. very clean and good equipment. They just fixed the tub so its heated...YAY!!! and the hot tub was also fixed, but now its so hot it will burn your skin off if you go in it so i'd stay away from it. They also just put new soda machines in which is great for those all nighters when its too late to run to the store to get your caffeine fix. They have a great computer room, but the printer doesnt work. And the new manager is extremely nice. No problems with her yet. And the apartments are very big.
So bottom line....Good: Amenities, Manager, Size
Bad: Plumbing, Noise and Construction
