opinion of a 4-year-renter
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 6/5/2008
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2008
I've lived at this apartment for 4 years; this is our last year. I'll keep my review to what's happened since Prometheus management has taken over, as it's probably most relevant to you. Here is a summary of the pros and cons:
PROS
1) the neighborhood. Having access to Runyon canyon and businesses within walking distance. Try Pink Pepper Thai restaurant on La Brea x Hollywood.
CONS
1) the parking. Since January 2008, there have been 5 occasions when someone was parked in our parking spot. All 5 times were by contractors/workers that were hired by or are employees of Prometheus. We've made complaints every single time, and it hasn't changed.
2) the maintenance. They're slow to respond. I called on a Thursday about a clogged kitchen; the maintenance guy came on Monday. Luckily, my husband had fixed it before the maintenance guy showed up.
3) the elevator. Yes, Prometheus inherited the awful elevator, but they don't seem to have any intention of fixing it. The elevator's buttons don't indicate where you're going. There have been many times when I've gotten into the elevator, pressed the "G1" button, and the elevator goes up to the 3rd floor. Thus, you have no idea if the elevator is going where you want.
4) poor communication skills. Many people have referred to the extermination process. When Promethus first issued the memo about the extermination, the memo stated that we "had" to attend a "mandatory meeting" to sign a consent form, and that we'd be relocated. However, the memo didn't say that we had the right to not sign the consent; seems to be misleading. The memo also didn't mention relocation costs or logistics. Only through conversation with the manager did I find out that I didn't have to sign the consent. The memo also didn't say that, without 100% consent, they couldn't execute the extermination.
Considering how much they're going to be asking for the remodeled apartments, I'd highly recommend that you consider another apartment.
