I've been very happy at Grand Central Square. I previously lived in the Pacific Electric building, and GSQA is much better. -Living above the market is fantastic. There are literally 20 places to eat within a 2-block radius. -We're 1 block from the red line. -There is secure parking within the building. -The security- Dre especially- is terrific. -The new manager is very professinal. -The biggest problem is the maintenance guy. He's very slow, which can be an issue because the building is really old, we've had to wait weeks to get some problems addressed. But the maintenance problems we have had are relatively minor so I would not say this is a big drawback. -The rents here are cheap relative to Pacific Electric. -The 3rd/4th/Broadway/Hill area is probably the safest area in the historic core due to the guards' presence overnight in the market and in front of La Cita. -Excellent access to & from the 110 through the 3rd street tunnel and the 4th street exits. -Noise is an issue on the lower floors, but I don't know if it's any worse or better than most other downtown buildings. I've never heard my neighbors though. -There's some very cool bars within walking distance. -Great central downtown location. Can walk to little tokyo, chinatown, historic core, or take metro to staples area. -GSQA allows pets, and there's a good place to walk dogs in front of Angelus Plaza at 3rd/Hill. -It shouldn't be long before the Million Dollar Theater in the basement reopens. We're hearing they plan to use it for concerts.
The only negative is the maintenance issue listed above. Overall I would highly recommend GSQA. I am looking forward to renewing our lease.
