Be Afraid...Be Very Afraid!

Looks can be deceiving....The price is definitely good for the area...
The "quaintness" of living in an old Hollywood apartment complex is suddenly replaced with the feeling of living in freshman dorm when it becomes apparent that everything that you were told with a reassuring smile may not have been totally sincere. Promises of repairs and their interesting theory that pest control can be effectively administered by the resident painter with a can of raid purchased at Home Depot.

However, the manager is very friendly. He is always available- conveniently located in the front office as one enters the building. He is very good about keeping regular hours during the week and is easy to find as he is always sitting at his desk with an open door policy. He greets everyone with a smile and surprisingly gives you the answer you are hoping to heat 100% of the time. The only bad part is that he is so pro-tenant that his promises to take action will inevitably tie his schedule up until the end of the Iraq war if indeed he acts on it.

Parking is a problem for most of Hollywood. Luckily there is an underground structure for a modest $75.00 fee. Omar (the live-in manager) keeps a list. Unfortunately it seems that this list may occasionally be misplaced as new tenants moving into vacated apartments somehow secure a space. I suppose it is fair, however, due to the fact that they are paying a much higher rent than the previous tenants that were taking advantage of rent control.

Lastly, I challenge anyone to successfully get through to the management company. Tenants are encouraged to do this as Omar seems not to be able to make all of the decisions...Email Contact:
