Just passed the 1 year mark at the Ardmore. The building is very safe and well maintained. Security guards keep out unwanted guests or solicitors.
Rent includes electricity and central heat/air; combined with the included underground parking, my $1100 rent is actually very reasonable. Down the street I've seen a non-AC 1-bed for $925, plus $75 for parking, plus you pay for juice. Screw that.
Neighbors are all cool; some industry, no screaming kids running around the halls, no dealers, no thugs. Just a few blocks from Hollywood Blvd and Mann's, so you're pretty close to the tourist traps. But you're also close to the 101, and if you know your back-streets you can avoid most of the traffic snarls Hollywood is known for.
Neighborhood parking is ridiculous so thank god for assigned garage parking -- but woe betide your visiting guests.
No noise to speak of. Party animals need not apply! This place is quiet and we'd like to keep it that way. Despite being just a few blocks from Mann's and the Boulevard you won't get much (any) noise from it.
The only true complaint (other than guest parking) would be the older electrical wiring; switch-controlled outlets are abundant (annoying!) and you'll likely throw breakers if you run a toaster and microwave concurrently.
All things considered I'm pretty happy here. Secure city living in the heart of Hollywood. If your friends can deal with hunting for parking when they visit you, it's a great place to live.
