Poor Air Quality/Conditions

DO NOT RENT HERE! Good luck getting your full deposit back. The manager, who is terrible by the way, did a walk through and said everything was fine. When I finally get my deposit return months later it was short 1/3 of what I had paid. If you leave make sure you get the so-called manager to sign a statement stating that you will get your full deposit back. As for the apartment my rent was increased 15% probably because I complained about the air quality in my apartment, specifically the AC emits noxious fumes that makes your eyes and throat burn, causes extreme tiredness and vomiting. [The apartment manager has his favorites, so if you are not one, then your rent will get increased to get you to move out.] The first increase was in July ($50/month), then October ($50/month) to the current increase ($225) in February, which goes into effect April 1st. (Of course, I will not be here when it does.) Unfortunately, it is their right to raise the rent whenever they want to because this building is not rent-controlled; however, it is their responsibility to fix things. My complaints wouldn't have been made if they had done what they were obligated to do.

I just reported the problem with the Health Department and they sent an inspector from their Culver City Office. He will issue a formal complaint on our behalf, which strongly suggests that the AC be fixed. If not and another unlucky tenant moves in and complains about the same problem, then the owners will be cited, charged and forced to fix it.

Other warnings: The sign in front of the building advertises the "amenities" that you get. Don't be fooled. The laundry facilities are never maintained. There are always at least one or two washer and/or dryers that are broken. One washer has been broken since the summer of last year. You have to use a laundry card machine, which was broken for the entire month of February. (Don't complain to the manager or else you might receive a rent increase.) The so-called gym is a room filled with junk equipment that do not work properly. If you have a noisy neighbor, good luck because the aforementioned manager will do nothing about it unless it affects him personally. The walls are paper thin, so it doesn't take much for a party next door to feel like the party is in your apartment.

As I said before, DO NOT RENT HERE unless you like being ignored, treated unfairly and want to through away your money.
