Mold Problem/No Upgrades

I have lived in this building for almost two years and I doubt I'll stay much longer. Since my initial one year lease was up, they raised my rent a substantial amount. I'm now paying $1575 for a one bedroom. (I think two bedrooms are $2000 and up)The units are fairly standard size but there are absolutely no upgrades going on in this building. The kitchen is very dated and in desparate need of remodeling. The cabinets are cheaply constructed on top of being old and the countertops are scratched and discolored. It's not just my unit, because I have seen the same conditions in several different neighbor's apartments. The "gym" if you can even call it that, is nothing but a filthy, stinky, little room without any working equiptment. The pool and jacuzzi would be okay but both are cloudy and gross...and have been for at least 4 or 5 months. The laundry room is dingy, damp and not well maintained. Like another poster mentioned it is cool that the machines use cards instead of coins...that is unless the machine that is needed to re-charge your laudry card breaks down. Last time that happened it was almost a month before it was repaired and tenants had no choice but to haul our laundry to a laundr-o-mat. The elevator, lobby, hallways and stairways all smell horrible, a mix of garbage and mold. There is a very serious mold problem throughout this entire building. When it rains the celings leak very badly which I am sure does not help with the mold situation. I often have bad headaches and weird symptoms that started only after I moved here. Many other tenants have said the same thing. The manager is friendly and I know he tries to get things done but it is obvious that he does not get much, if any help from the owner of property. If there is any kind of problem or emergency the only phone number you can call is the manager's. Most places I have lived, always have an emergenct contact number or management company you can call. The building used to be managed by LRA but that was before I moved in. One good thing is that all pets are allowed, they do not impose restrictions on breed or size.
This place is not the absolute worst but for the amount of rent they are charging it's definitely not worth it.
