just moved in a while ago, and love it so far. i did my research and knew what i was getting into. if you're unaware of the homeless issue, you must be blind--it's been like that for 30 years, at least. . . i've actually volunteered at the midnight mission. if you are squeamish or uppity, keep out. i lived 5 miles away for 8 years. . . started visiting the neighborhood on foot, at night, before i made my decision. quite nice! homeless people do not frighten me--i was more nervous out at night in my hollywood neighborhood. really.

the amenities are nice, the people that i've met so far seem just fine--wide variety of folks, and i think that's a positive! the only beef that i would have is irresponsible pet owners. there is a particular guy who's dog piddles in the elevator, and he never returns to clean it up. (my dog has done it, too. . . when i was late for his walk--i returned immediately, and now carry a towel if he's overdue, just in case. . . ) yuck. very rude. although it doesn't stay long- as building maintenence seems to be on a tight schedule so far-but that is not their responsibilty! and i'm sure that this can be addressed when i begin to attend hoa meetings. and--some owners think that the dog run is a replacement for an off-leash dog park. i do not agree, nor does the ccnr. ANY dog can bite a person or other dog at any time. i control my dog in public, others should do the same. and these are the same cotton-candy-headed-life-is-wonderful people that act as if they've been attacked when a large dog merely BARKS in their direction. the dog run is meant to be a convenient restroom, ON leash.

other than that, tons of stuff around, the pool, hot tub, and common areas are great and well-kept, units are lovely (you CAN hear whatever is going on in the hall and vice-versa, but between units noise is not a problem). i DO wish there were outlets and/or light fixtures on the balconies. . .and i needed to add weather stripping around my balcony door because it was drafty (incidentally, it had been raining hard for 3 days before my inspection, and it didn't leak, btw). cost me a whopping 7 bucks. and the elevator broke. but they fixed it in 2 days. i'd say that's acceptable, and i'd bet money it broke because someone abused it and propped it open, or some fool thing. . .

so--c'mon, people! welcome to the trials of home ownership and stop whining! and realize that condo living involves NEIGHBORS in close quarters. . . and not all of them will be wonderful, wherever you are

I'm worried about getting my older dog down to the Dog Run from the 6th floor. Do you have any suggestions? I'm thinking taking the stairs so he doesn't think the pool area is a restroom.
