Manager Makes Living Here Unbearable

The manager is unpleasant and downright rude. He's nice and accomodating til your lease is signed, then it's all over. When my garbage disposal broke, they just took it out. Didn't replace it. When my fridge broke, they replaced it with a huge model that left no room for a trash can, which is now in my living room. My car was broken into and robbed in the "secured" parking garage and I never got even so much as a follow-up call from management when I voiced concern over the fact that my garage door opener was now in the hands of thieves. Codes never changed, vandals have access to the garage and building now. Manager only calls when he needs something, and treats every request as a burden and annoyance. The grounds are lovely and the amenities are nice, but I recommend looking for somewhere you'll be treated like a valued tenant, not an unwelcome houseguest. For this much money, that's how it should be!

Manager's Response

From: Manager Date: 01/30/2008
Garbage disposals are being removed as they go bad. They, by the very name, encourage people to put all of their waste food down the drain. This is recipe for disaster. Unless you have been on the receiving end of a flood of backed up drain water into your kitchen, you may not understand the severity of this problem. This will be our policy. We are not advertising garbage disposals and, we will remove them when they fail. It is not your decision to make. Most places in this town do not offer free refrigerators with the units. I have never heard of anyone wanting a smaller refrigerator. Changing garage remote codes will not stop the problem. It happens that garages like ours are so easily compromised that the thieves don't care whether or not there is a lock on the gate or not. We keep the gates in good condition. We do all that can be done. Locks and gates only keep honest people honest. The crooks don't care about any of that. They get any remote, put in any code and, tape the button down. Then they drive around unit something opens. Easier still, they wait until a resident leaves or returns and accesses the gate while it is still open. Ask the police. They will tell you. I am so tired of being blamed for the fact that someone has left some good swag sitting on their front seat in plain sight after being warned countless times and, then it gets stolen. These crooks are like roaches. They come out when the lights are low and, nothing else is moving. When someone comes upon them they scatter. They will stay as long as they are fed food that they like. That is why it is up to each resident to starve them out by not leaving anything for them. They come ever year or year and a half. The last one that broke into the garage did it between twelve noon and one p.m. While here he was waiving at residents that passed him in the garage as if he lived here. He is serving six years in prison as a result of his crimes here and at over one hundred other garages in the area. he was prosecuted based solely on the video evidence compiled by fifteen hours of poring over the images from the sixteen cameras. The detectives had been trying to get a break regarding this one man for over a month. They were thankful. It would be nice if more of the people here even knew this.
