So, my husband and I moved to downtown because he works in the Paul Hastings building, and we are both about to begin law school at Loyola and Southwestern this fall. We were very skeptical about moving into a moderately large, corporate run loft complex, due to the sometimes impersonal and negligent treatment that we have each experienced from living in such establishments. Also, we need our peace and quite, for studying, sleeping and all that good stuff. And not that we are antisocial, but we like being left alone, which is sometimes hard when you live with like 400 other people. Well, I can confidently say that we are very pleased with met lofts! Overall, the staff has been very courteous, the noise has been minimal, the parking is excellent, and you can't beat the location. We are both now able to take the metro (a blue line stop is one block away) to school/work, which is an incredible blessing with the ever increasing gasoline prices!
Another plus is that they are extremely dog friendly! The surrounding area is great for walking our dogs, and the building even supplies you with those little green plastic bags for cleaning up after your pet, hooray convenience!
One suggestion to those thinking of moving in, get an apartment that faces the street rather than into the building courtyard, which is where the pool is located. Sometimes it can be pretty noisy/annoying on the weekends. For some reason certain residents go all spring break wild whenever the weather permits. I guess some people like that sort of thing, but whatever.
