pricey but nice

Expensive, like everything in L.A., but overall nice. There are many college students living there, and some of them treat the building like a dorm, but that's a product of the building's location (a mile from 'SC and next to the fashion school.)
Maintenance issues were handled in a timely fashion and the grounds were well-maintained. One surly doorman, but the rest were nice. The DASH (bus) is extremely convenient. Lousy parking (and it cost $100/month extra per space!) If your apartment has 2 parking spots, you will have to sandwich one car between a wall and the other car, which can be a logistical PITA.
My biggest complaint was that they tried to steal our security deposit . . . they kept saying the "check was in the mail" and it clearly was not. California law gives them a very specific time frame to return either the deposit in full or an itemized list of deductions; we filed in small claims' court. Two days before our court date, I received a call from the corporation that owns the building and had a check overnighted to me.
