Pros and Cons of Mozaic

My husband and I have been living at Mozaic for 2 years now and the time has come. . . to move out! At first, for us, it was about the hefty deposit everyone else was requiring at other places (but now a days, you can get in for $5000-$700 bucks, oac, of course). Mozaic was really awesome back when it was only half occupied. It seems out of desperate times, they've let just about anyone move in. It feels like there are more dogs that live there, then people. And that's because sometimes, your lovely neighbor will leave poop on the only community stairs in the courtyard. Pool is very teeny, guys. Pretty, but teeny weeny. And it's hard for them to get the temperature right. In the summer, it's boiling hot, it's suppose to be open 24/7, but it's been impossible to enjoy the pool at any time and I am a livid water person. Jacuzzi is broken half the time and they do not have pool cleaners come soon enough. The view on top is spectacular because it's on the outer skirts of downtown, absolutely amazing. Good place to have a smoke, too. I used to smoke, the good ol days. Walking distance to so many things and I have felt really safe, especially because it's right at Union Station. There's always people. Just beware when living in a South facing unit in either building, there is A LOT of noise. Buses, loud speakers to announce trains leaving, etc. (All Aboard! was real cute the first few months) From 5:am to 11:pm, windows are double paned, but those quiet hours don't really help the window. Noise from neighbors will vary to who's above you, but it is very hard to hear anyone below you. Wall to wall won't matter in any unit. That's the good thing. I only hear people if they are in the hallways. Service can be super quick, they just hired a new team and you get serviced within 24 hours. There's only one asian guy in the office that is super helpful. Everyone else is mentally half there. I've enjoyed the amenities, you can have parties in any of their rooms without a deposit. If you love inexpensive food, this is also the place for authentic mexican or chinese/vietnamese (good bbq place, too, right down the street) and it's all very walkable. Living rooms are a little tight. Since the economy is so soft right now, you should be able to get a really good deal, anywhere. Elevators are also really slow at Mozaic, take the stairs, but watch for poop. Gym is good, but there's no eliptical machine. Darn! The only real good thing about Mozaic for us, is how amazingly easy commuting is. I work downtown and my husband works over at wilshire. The building has a very sterile, corporate feel. Nothing wrong with it. Toilets clog easily. Never had a problem with hot water. Electric stoves suck, but you'll eat. And the 2nd thing that is awesome' W/D in unit! Good Luck! (There is no guest parking (about 5 spaces, that fill up fast), guest must pay to park, otherwise, but if you park at the post offce after 6pm it's free during the week only, not everyone knows this. The attendant is gone) In our opinion, after the amenities wore off, the 2nd year just became a drag. We're paying way too much for what it's worth. Our 2/2 is $2395. We pay for our 2nd parking space, tandem, $75 bucks. Everyone's needs are different, this was my own personal reflection. I just hope it helped.

So you can park at the PO for free? Is there a gate to get in? What time do they get there the next day? Any additional details on that wouldbe awesome!

Yes, free from 6pm till about 7am. 8am seems to close for comfort, we've never tried it. Remember, only small to med size cars will fit through the white columns.
