Whatever you do, do not live at the PE Lofts. I have lived in the building for almost 2 years and am on my way out, thank god! The building is in shambles and the management is the worst I've dealt with. I first moved to the building because the neighborhood was said to be an 'up and coming' area and that new businesses were moving in close by. The neighborhood is one of the WORST I've been in, and I seriously fear for my life every time I walk outside. Homeless people are constantly camped outside and the block of Main St. is horrifying. I have literally been attacked when walking around the few blocks outside the building. Management has entered my apartment nearly 15 times in the last year, to do fire alarm checks and window replacements and it is a HUGE inconvenience every time. They give you a date of when they will be entering, but then change it last minute. My air conditioning has been broken for the past year and maintenance has yet to fix it. The pool area is DISGUSTING and smells like dog ----. There are constantly loud parties and individuals who aren't residents partying on the roof. They allow large dogs, which is fine by me, but people let there dogs off the leash down the long hallways and let them go to the bathroom throughout the building. Seriously the entire building smells of dog ----. I hate this place so much, that I tried to break my lease a month early, but wasn't allowed by management. DO NOT LIVE HERE. I've lived there for almost a year now and there seems to be 1-2 bad dog owners but it appears that the problem with the person with the dog that likes to ---- and piss on the 6th floor has been taken care of. I've noticed since the first warm weekend when there were 20 Mickey Avalon's on the roof that they have a full time security guard on at the pool now during weekends and things are really mellow along with the 24 hour security guards at the front desk all you have to do is probably call them with a complaint. The neighborhood is edgy but you're in the historic core of the 2nd largest city in the US and literally a block away from the start of skid row. The good thing about this building in my opinion over all the others in the historic core/fashion district is it has parking inside the building with a parking attendant. I don't think any other building has that as this is the only one that used to serve as a train station. It seems you are upset because you tried to break your lease early and were turned down. Why shouldn't they turn you down? You signed a contract. I think they've entered my place 3 times (2 for window protection and 1 x for fire alarm). That's totally cool with me. I'd rather live in a safe building. I'll be honest. I'm probably moving too at the end of my lease in a a month or two. I have 2 small dogs and want to live someplace closer to a dog park or with a door right to a small yard so I don't have to go all the way to the roof or out on the streets you seem to have a habit of "literally" being attacked on nearly 15 times during the past year.

If you lived there for two years and only tried to leave a month early, it couldn't have been that bad. And if the place ALWAYS smells like dog sh#t,why didn't you notice that when you moved in? Maybe its not the dogs that started making the place smell.
