I lived in a 2 bedroom "designer" tower apartment for 2 1/2 years and loved it! This property has one of the best locations in LA! The layout of these apartments is genius and it had been updated to include beautiful granite countertops, open kitchen and all the modern appliances you need like microwave and dishwasher. I rarely heard any noise from the neighbors and the laundry room was very convenient! I recently re-located and my new apartment is nothing compared to my beautiful apartment at Park La Brea:(

It's a lovely park, yes. But I believe that the thousands of dollars spent on the new park (the 3rd on the property) should have been spent fixing roofs and the towers and garden apartments so that they do not leak when it rains for more than one day. The money should have been spent on repairing the tower elevators, which are frequently not running and in which residents are often stuck. PLB is more concerned with rapid turnover, attracting new residents (who will pay higher rent that renewing residents) by spending their money on beautifying the grounds, rather than making the apartments healthy, safe places to live. The problems one encounters here are not evident until after the lease has been signed.

Does anyone know anything about the structural damage done in the 1994 quake? I was told that PLB just plastered over all the cracks. I did see some of these open up over the years. PLB only seems to make cosmetic fixes to these.

this post is obviously management. also, the screaming kids dont necessarily use the parks that our rent goes to build, their lazy parents let them play right under your window probably.

I don't think children are a bad thing. However, my issue is with the townhomes' THIN FREAKING windows that do no good even when they're closed. I also live right next to the laundromat - it can get pretty loud when people/kids are talking loudly or screaming, noise all jumping off the walls.

I have lived in PLB for four years, each year in a different type of unit. 2bd townhouse, 1bd garden, 3bd garden and 2bd tower. I have had NONE of these problems. EVER. Sure, kids can be noisy but c'mon, people. Do you live in a bubble? Do you think living next to the laundry is going to be quiet? Are kids not supposed to play in the play areas in the garden areas by the laundry rooms? Sheesh. And I don't even have kids. There is no structural damage that I have ever seen and having structurally redone many houses over the years, I think I have a pretty keen sense as to what is a plaster crack and what is major damage. BTW, the elevators are being replaced as we speak. I do find them clunky but have never, ever been stuck in one. I have never, ever felt my safety was being compromised in any way. Aside from personal issues, I haven't seen one person state a FACT about anything. If you don't like it, get out. Leave it to the rest of us who love living here. Whiny babies.

Obviously management. Sounds almost exactly how the leasing agents describe the apartments. I haven't had too much problems with kids, but noise is definitely an issue. I live on the ground floor, so I only use the elevators to go to the laundry room, but I also hear the alarm every time the elevator gets stuck. It goes off for 30 minutes because that's how long it takes patrol to come by. And it goes off several times a week in my building. Renovations should go into fixing the parking problems. I'd like to be able to have visitors without having to reserve them a spot days in advance (hours in advance on weekdays).
