I moved to LA from across country in early July. One of the best things about PLB is that it is a pretty easy place to move to from cross country if you don't have a lot of time to drive around and look for a place. They property is large enough that they have plenty of units. As one bedrooms in LA go, I've had a number of friends comment that the apartments (in the towers anyway) are spacious. I looked at both the townhouses and the towers. I think the choice comes down to what kind of lifestyle you want. My perspective is the towers are a little more private. The townhomes are a little more family oriented. I think the towers are also a bit more quiet. I was concerned about that but haven't heard much noise from my neighbors. Some of the units that are close to 3rd street will get noise from the fire department station down the road.

In reading reviews before I moved here, I kept seeing issues of noise but haven't really had any problems. I think because I was expecting it to be a problem, I chose my apartment accordingly--I got one on the 12th floor, the highest floor in the towers. I'm also really surprised to read people talking about hidden or surprise costs. When I was researching this, I thought it was very clear that reserved parking (open parking is free), the gym and pool were extra costs. For those who complain they didn't know, you need to be responsible for asking the right questions. It's like buying a house but not asking about the property tax.

Overall, I've been happy and haven't had many problems.

I don't know. What do you think? Sound like a sales pitch on the key points PLB? Is PLB Mgmnt getting better at this? Hmmmmm.

management is getting better at fake posts, or this guy has low standards. as i will recount shortly on my blog dedicated to debunking plb, when i moved here from across country, the experience was a nightmare. the leasing agent (fired since i signed the paperwork) had apparently lied to me about many things. To make a long story short (this was nearly a decade ago) plb refused to give me the keys when i pulled up in my rental truck having driven 3000 miles to get here because they demanded a co-signer and the cosigner's signature at the last minute. Although they had known for month about the cosigner they decided to wait until i got there to demand his signature. The cosigner was out of town at that time. The head property manager was not available to discuss this with us (they said he was out on site and couldnt be reached) but i suspect he was hiding in his office. This cowardice and lack of professionalism unfortunatly turned out to be a hallmark of Scrgorons, the general manager who is in charge of hiring the idiots plb residents must deal with day in and day out. This story makes me chuckle when i see some of the animals they let live here now. Also, i was flat out told that the pool did not cost extra money. So it is hard to ask the right questions when you are lied to, isn't it? And the parking rate he quotes sounds suspiciously low, since i live in a much more run-down area of plb and the parking was $50 in the early 2000s! Maybe a real poster, but he is full of it.

Actually, this is the first post that I've read that was positive for plb and I didn't think was fake. I think the guy got lucky and hasn't run into too many issues. PLB is big, so there are some areas (like mine) where there are a lot of problems, and some areas where it's not as bad. I knew that the gym would cost more, but they didn't mention the pool. It never really occurred to me that they would charge for that as well, especially when they advertise it so prominently. Usually pools are free in most complexes. Gyms are not. I'm not a mind reader here. They also didn't mention the 6 month commitment that is required for the price they told me for the gym, or that you have to give them 30 day notice before stopping your membership. Parking I understood would cost for reserved, but I was assured that visitor parking wouldn't be a problem. Guess what? You have to call waaaay in advance, or your visitor can't park because they have so few vistor spots available. Noise: I'm on a lower level, so I get some from outside. I don't mind that so much. But my neighbors are loud. I hear them throughout my apartment. Patrol doesn't really do anything about it. If they even show up that is. Often they don't even bother at that.
