Park La Brea is a great complex! Looking at some other reviews, people just want something to complain about. The parking here is cool becasue you have the option to get a reserved space, so you don't have to search. I have lived here for 4 years and have always been treated with respect from the staff and my concerns were addressed quickly. Also, a great palce to meet new friends, the neighbors are very friendly!

I am not complaining about everything here. There are some great things about the area. I just think people need some truth here. Don't be misled by PLB Mgmnt. Some fundamental truths are given here about PLB by the former residents and you need to be aware of them. Some people are ok with these issues. Others are just too lazy or have no time to look for the good places. They are out there but not all lumped into one location. You have to look. PLB Mgmnt always seems to respond right away to bad reveiws here by giving new good ones. A lot of times they are very obvious about it. This just helps to boost their score. A lot of these posts have been pointed out and when you read them you can really begin to recognize a pattern. Use your own common sense and you can really learn a lot from these posts. |

I don't work for PLB, but have lived here for four years in four different units. I write this as a maintenance worker is repairing my kitchen faucet. I only called ten minutes ago. He's here. Yes, some areas of PLB need to be fixed up, but with the amount of units they have it's a pretty daunting task. That said, the un-done units are a bargain compared to what you get outside the gates. I have lived in both the townhouses and am now in a tower. The residents, for the most part, are great, but the residents make the building. If you are thinking about renting here, they will give you a list of the available units. Check everything out before you sign - the laundry areas are key to the quality of tenant in the building, the night time parking in the area you are interested in (oddly enough, the area around the towers by the gym, theater, etc. are pretty good). Tour the hallways, stop by at different times of day to judge if the place is quiet enough for you. Some towers are full of kids, mine is not. They give you the option of rejecting the apartment you chose once it's empty - take that opportunity to be an adult and review everything. No one's holding a gun to your head and it's your fault if you choose something you don't like. While I have had some normal issues with management, as you are dealing with a corporation there are usually more options for complaints than there are with the shady Eastern Euros I have rented from before. Reserved parking on the top level of the garages is available for like $35 a month. A small price to pay for not having to deal with the trouble if you are in a more crowded area. As for crime, read the local papers...it's scary how much crime there is in the neighborhoods surrounding PLB. I've left my keys in the front door overnight and am still here to talk about it! Yeah, some of the guys are not effective, but the appearance of guards does act as a deterrent. With regard to the noise, as the walls here are for the most part plaster, noise doesn't really carry through the walls. My neighbor has had parties and I never hear them. What you do here is noise coming out the windows. Frankly, if your phone conversations can be heard four floors away, then you are being too loud. Security has been very good about shutting down the post-college morons who live two floors below me. There's a noise part in the contract, if you know you're loud and plan on being loud at 1am on a Wednesday, don't live here. Stay in the dorm.

this post is such complete management bs, it boggles the mind. why dont you people spend some time helping tennants?
From the 6/01 post, interesting perspective, but how easy does the management make it to
"Check everything out before you sign"?
you are moving from one plb apartment to another, so of course you can wander the property. other posters have noted that prospective tennants are not granted access at all. I am fascinated that you keep moving around inside plb though.

As I stated, I do NOT work for PLB. I live there and stand by my statement. I've lived on Burnside, Metro, Lindenhurst and now in a tower. Just because you disagree with me, does NOT mean I am a liar. Before I moved in, I wandered around the entire property as my leasing agent suggested. It wasn't hard and they don't make it hard. You just have to use your head and not expect to be living in a perfect place, because there is none.

Hm... how are you posting multiple comments. Only one is permitted per user, so you must be creating a new account each time, which seems likely to be something management would do.
I realize that no place is perfect, but they could be spending their money on trying to make the place better for residents instead of making it prettier for potential residents.
For one, east of hauser, they could replace some of the lawns with parking and have more visitor parking spots.
