I moved to LA in summer '99. I looked at no less than 30 apartments before selecting Park La Brea. My leasing agent was great, and showed me 4 different units that would meet my preference for quiet and easy access/egress to and from the property.

I have a 2 bedroom tower unit. At move in - rent was $1,365. It's now $1,750 or so...not too bad after 7 years. The reality is that it's expensive to live in Los Angeles. Look around and discover what you'll get these days for $1,365 in this neighborhood.

I see all these complaints on this website, however, I've not had such extensive problems at all. Yep, I had an ant infestation once...I sprayed...no problems. For the first time since I moved here...yep, roaches...a few small ones. I sprayed all around the kitchen...gone. I had a leak from the bathroom above my shower...yep, it took two trips by maintenance over a year to get it fixed. But, it is fixed.

Parking is tight, but manageable. I had a guest here for an entire month, and we were able to arrange guest parking for her the entire time. It was just a matter of calling in and making the request for a spot in a timely manner.

I find the management to be reasonable. I had a tax lien once which prevented access to my checking accounts. Yep, I got an eviction notice. But I kept my PLB accountant informed of my status and they worked with me.

Even the hired patrol department - the Platt Ninja's - can be reasoned with.

Overall it's not been a bad experience at all. It's a vast community of people here so rules and regulations are important. There seem to be a lot more college kids living here 4 or more to a unit, and the turn over rate is rather high, but for now, Park La Brea remains home and I have few reservations about that.

Since you're asking what everyone thinks, I think you have alot of time on your hands and alot of anger for some situation which most reasonable people wouldn't have. Now go ahead and respond since it seems that you need to have the last word. You should probably just copy and paste JR because your responses all sound the same. Since you asked...

Mr. JRFrogman or should I call you JR Lucas. You're right, I do you're full of anger and hatred against Park La Brea...well, let me e-mail you at your aol account and set a time to have a coffee or tea since you need a anger management...c'mon...I live in Park La Brea and it's all great and if you do have a problem till now even though you're not living there anymore...you need to talk to someone about your issues...like me.

Do these guys sound like PLB? What do you think? Just don't be a fool; use your common sense and read all opinions. Be aware that PLB Mgmnt posts here also.

Hey guys. I think you got the wrong person. I don't know any Lucas but it wouldn't matter anyway. Who cares who I am anyway and why should you guys care? I am just asking that people do their homework and I am trying to give them the other side of the story. If I identified you as PLB mgmnt incorrectly, I appologize but you have to admit you sound like a magazine review.

I don't have any anger issues with PLB. I think you should just let it go and realize that everyone has an opinion. I type fast so it just seems like I spend too much time here.

So, all you people out there looking for apartments, just read and do your homework because you want a good place to live that is compatible with you. Imagine what it will be like if you get it wrong. Don't be fooled by Mgmnt selling their stuff here. Now that you have a number of examples to go from, use your common sense and you will do well.
