I've been here for about a month now. I've already had stuff missing from maintenance. I hesitate to say stolen because it's possible that they thought it was theirs because it was one of very few things I brought to the apartment before my movers came to bring everything else. But I'm still waiting for a reimbursement.

General parking is horrid. I pay $70 extra per month for a spot that's several lots away because all of the closer reserved spots are taken. That's after I was assigned two spots that were already assigned, and it took the head of parking days to realize this. And my roommate had similar problems. Guest parking is even worse. There are 20 visitor spots for five towers. You basically have to call days in advance for the weekend, and before 5p for the weekdays to reserve a spot for your visitors.
Oh, and during construction they mark off spots from the general parking in front of the buildings. Yesterday they moved the cones late at night to different spots where cars were already parked for the night and towed several cars this morning around 7am with residents running after them screaming at them.

Noise sucks.
Construction workers outside as early as 7am, singing, and sometimes getting in arguments with residents. I actually heard one threaten to kill a resident who was complaining that they were making so much noise before 8am.
Many residents play pianos, so if you're next to one of them, expect to hear it throughout your apartment. I've called patrol to speak to my neighbors like 10 times. I'm going to have to go in to complain about it next time. I expect it to be taken care of many months down the road. I was told when I was looking at the apartment that I wouldn't have any problem like that, after I specifically asked because I had a guitar player above me in my last apartment. After I moved in and found out about the piano, I was told at administration that they'll require the neighbor to put padding on the piano, but the patrol never bothers to say anything beyond you're being too loud.

We've had sewage overflowing from our kitchen sink. It took them a full week with people coming and telling us that it should be fine now every day until we got someone to actually look at the pipes below us. They have to schedule a full week in advance for when they're going to come to repaint the drawers that got ruined.

Staff basically tell you that they put in a work order or gives you another person to speak with. They are usually nice about it, but it doesn't amount to real help in many situations. Also, I eventually had to write in to get a reimbursement for my missing item, and they're going to call me for a phone interview to go over it.

And no, I'm not a rival landlord like someone (probably working for PLB) keeps commenting on everyone's review here. Sadly, I'm a tenant. Think twice about living here (at least in the towers).

I think this is a very accurate review of Park La Brea. I wish there was a way we could warn people about this place to actually impact PLB's business.

The place is effectively a rat-hole with gestapo style management practices. They will do nothing for you whatsoever other than what they want to do. Stay away from this dive.

Hi. I was seriously considering living in Park La Brea, until I read the reviews on here. I've put down a deposit to hold an apt in Tower 34 on the 7th floor. They told my roommate and I that general parking for this Tower should not be a problem. Is that what they tell everyone? I really like the area, but if its really that hard to find parking and the noise levels are so high, I would probably live somewhere else. Can anyone provide me with more info?? I'd really appreciate it. I'd rather get out now.

Update: They rejected my claim stating that there's no negligence on their behalf. After speaking to one of their service supervisors, I have very good evidence of their negligence. He admitted to being an ex-con. How is hiring ex-cons who have keys to everyones' apartments not negligent? I am seeking legal recources (small claims court probably). To JRFrogman: After looking around at the other reviews, I have to ask: If you are not an employee of Park LaBrea, then why are you trolling these reviews defending the place constantly? Do you not have anything else to do? To the latest response, parking varies from location to location in Park LaBrea, but it's particularly bad around towers. I haven't spoken to anyone (aside from employees) for whom parking is not a problem. I don't think noise is too bad higher up in the towers unless you're unlucky with your neighbors. But I would definitely recommend getting out.

This sounds like all the other complaints for this place. PLB is the Three Stooges all over again. Nothing seems to have changed. I guess I was not clear in what I was saying. I don't defend PLB. I just like to post what i believe is the truth based on my experiences. I am not an employee and never have been employed by PLB. I was a resident that did not like the way I was treated there. I think it will help perspective tenants if they can read all points of view not just PLB Mgmnt sales posts. I am not constantly trolling these reviews. I have some tech tools that help me keep up to date with the site. Since I type fast, I just check in once in a while to respond to things here, since it doesn't take much time. I feel that it is needed. This may encourage PLB Mgmnt to treat their tenants a little better in the future.

this review is somewhat accurate. i have lived at park la brea for about 4 months now. i have a beautiful grand piano which i play on a daily basis. the way the apartment is built allows my beautiful music to resonate down the halls and fill the hearts of my neighbors with pure joy! i even offered to play for one of the construction workers... he then threatened to kill me. when there are new tenants moving it, it is very simple to climb in a window and rummage through some boxes before they are fully settled. what a convenience! most of my apartment is furnished with othere peoples' things. in fact, that is where i got my piano. if you are planning on moving in to this complex please post which unit you will be moving to. i need a new toaster oven or a new mouse pad.

Exactly, we have the same problem, security is poor at best. There are no surveillance cameras that I am aware of, when things get taken management stonewalls you and claims are denied. There needs to be an organized effort to get management off thier butts to do something. Hpoefully readers of this site will think twice about renting here. Good luck with your claim! LOL

haha dafonz4ubro that's hilarious! too bad there really are people with just your opinions living everywhere here. if you like being forced to listen to others piano practice, the garden apartments are the place for you! the courtyard architecture is perfect for echoing and bombarding you with some inconsiderate ----wads piano playing. obviously the main fault is with obnoxious -------s who move a damn piano into an apartment complex, but management can't be bothered to regulate this as they should, since at least according to the lease, bothering other residents with noise is prohibited. I'm pretty sure if I got out my drum kit and started playing they would not appreciate it. What is it with you apartment dwelling piano playing -------s?

I wouldn't suggest living at Park La Brea unless you love the sound of dogs barking next door all day and like being woken up early EVERY morning by the screaming children through the wall. Don't be fooled into thinking that a "garden" townhouse is tranquil either as small children are left unattended to scream all day long and destroy any plants that you may have outside your back door.
