I am a former resident of PLB and I am ready to bring their farcical ploys to the public via legal and media means.

If any out there really wants to put a stop to the bully boy tactics of this organization, please drop me a line at david.beatsgoliathagain@yahoo.com. If there is enough interest, this could become a class action suit!

Please be serious, have documents, photos and witnesses.

I have unanswered email & phone calls, disgraceful attempts at maintenance, roaches on kitchen floors (even after daily mopping with bleach!) and workers who gloat at the fact that they are in a union and therefore cannot be fired!

Oh, did I mention the crickets in the living room, cobwebs seemingly made by Tarantulas in the gardens and the tar bubbling up outside the units'

Burning your check book and sleeping on a park bench would be less stressful!

Thank you,
D 3mPoZ6gGN6wTPgNi4L2C

Hello JRFrogman, I have read many of your responses and I was wandering if you might want to assist me in this case; the information you have could be of use to my lawyer! This case could bring about changes. Two lawyers are considering working together on this case; another former resident is fighting for her right too! Walking away bolsters bullies like these and it is time many got together to stop it. My email address is: david.beatsgoliathagain@yahoo.com Thank you, D/ Please contact me directly and let me know how I could mass mail other tenants. Another info, advice you could give would be appreciated!

I thought PLB kicked the Unions out of the park. That is why the workers had a big protest back in 99 or 2000. You can't really do anything about the tar. The whole park is floating on top of it. Didn't you notice a little place across the street called The La Brea Tar Pits? I think that is why some of the buildings are sinking in places. It is causing cracks to form in the ceilings and walls. You can't make them get better people to do maintenance. All you can do is live with it or move. I think it is mainly a lack of staff anyway. That was another complaint the protesters had. On their flyers they described something like this happening. Mr. PissedAtPLB, I keep telling you guys, I really don't know what I can help you with. The stuff I am telling you about is stuff you would have to verify yourself anyway. Why do you need me? You need something more recent so that you can document it. There is a lot of drama there. I am sure you will find all you need. That would be more appropriate for a lawsuit. Not undocumented stuff that happened to me when I was there all those years ago. Reading this site, it doesn't take a genius to see that nothing has changed. Go find the new drama and document it as it happens. Mass mailing is not brain surgery. There are about 18 towers on the property. There are 13 floors per tower, the ground floor and 12 upper floors. Each upper floor has apartments labeled A through L. The first apt on the the 3rd floor is 3A. See how easy that is? Just do the math and compute all the apt addresses for each tower. If you need some sample addresses, just go in the tower and check out the mailbox area. Everyone dumps all their junk mail on a central table there. Just collect that and you will have all the addresses you want. You could even contact the advertisers and ask who did the mailing. Just repeat their process and viola, mass mailing made easy. If you need the addresses, just drive through the complex once and you can get them. Take a map and mark the address ranges and steps. Bingo, you have all the addresses. If you want a reason to get in, just tell them you are thinking of renting there and want to look at the area or just pick an address and tell them you are visiting that person. I would think your lawyers would have thought of this. If they couldn't solve this simple problem, you may want to get new lawyers. You will need some people that think outside the box to get what you want out of PLB in a court of law. Their legal game is very tight. They have all kinds of legal docs you must sign when you move in. One of them makes you give up your rights to sue them should you get cancer from some of the substances they know are on the premises. I am sure you got copies of those when you moved in. They waited till I had the moving van with my stuff before they sprung those release from liability docs on me. I couldn't get my keys until I signed them. Funny, I had already signed my lease agreement a couple of weeks earlier. With that kind of coverage and more, I am sure they have lots of legal counsel to cover their asses. With the legal shenanigans they use on residents that want out or have gripes against them, I am sure they are very well covered. You better have a tight game plan with lots of documentation otherwise I would suggest you walk away. Again, for a tight game plan, you would have to document this as it happens. I am not moving back there so that you can document this. That is your job, not mine.

it would be nice if a resident with issues would nurture a contact at the LA times or other local papers. Now they allow dogs all of the sudden!

Hello-I used to live at PLB for 9 years. I have pictures and documented complaints from years of living there, starting with this very quote... " They have all kinds of legal docs you must sign when you move in. One of them makes you give up your rights to sue them should you get cancer from some of the substances they know are on the premises. I am sure you got copies of those when you moved in. They waited till I had the moving van with my stuff before they sprung those release from liability docs on me. I couldn't get my keys until I signed them. Funny, I had already signed my lease agreement a couple of weeks earlier." That was my biggest complaint. They also charged me a STIFF deposit, which they said they weren't going to do, but on the day I was supposed to get my key, they dumped that on me. And I had to pay it or lose my $ 200.00 deposit that was for holding the apt, AND I had already given up my other place and hired movers, etc. A good lawyer may have a case against them because state laws override some illegal clauses in rental agreements, in some cases. Even if you sign an agreement, if what it says is illegal, it doesn't hold water in court. I also have documentation of tons of other complaints against them. They NEVER returned a cent of my deposit, and never gave me any reason. There was often flooding in the basements and stuff in storage was ruined. I had maintenance come into my apartment against my will without 24 hour notice, and had to call a lawyer and threaten with tresspassing. The problems went on and on. They are horrible. They are bullies. A maintenance guy once admitted to me that there's a mandatory 45 minute wait to let a resident back into their unit when they're locked out. This is to discourage them from locking themselves out again. ( They also charge to let you back in - GROSS ). I personally sat with a friend while she waited and waited to get back into her apt, after locking herself out by accident, and her 2 year old son was locked inside. But maintenance didn't come for a long time. She was panicked and had to decide whether to break the window, of course, to protect her son. They hire "block captains" to go around and check things....like whether people's back patios are neat enough....and these "captains" keep lists of residents and put "marks" by your name if you complain about anything. This is the truth...after years of living there, people come out and tell you these things. It's a shame, because it's a great location, but horribly managed. They have every excuse in the book about why they can't take care of things properly. My drinking water was always brown. I had to buy water for drinking and cooking. I have pictures of everything. I will email you, goliath, with my info, if you need my documentation. I have 9 years of pent up anger towards these people.

I live here they never return phone calls, they never answer My mails. I have so much problem here. When I call to make a complain they say to me when I talk to mainly their service department if I don't like it I should move. Well they would get more rent because I lived here over nine years. They only care about money and once you moove in you are off their kind to list.
