Back last summer, due to work, I found it necessary to move from my comfortable suburb to (what I consider) the big city. I grew up in the suburbs, lived all my life in the suburbs, so to say I was not looking forward to the move would be an understatement. I started my research which included being devoted to this web site. my findings kept bringing me back to Park La Brea because of the situation with the date I needed to be settled in my new place and the fact that it was located in a better neighborhood than what my price range would allow for me to live. I contacted the leasing office and found a place. Like most people say, moving in was a breeze. I settled in and was basically waiting for the problems to start, considering what I ve read on this site. I really I had no choice; I would just have to deal with it, being what the economy is like these days.
That was June 2008, I moved into my garden two bedroom townhouse. I have been surprisingly happy here. It is so close to my work. It feels like I m still living in a small suburb, but I have all the conveniences of living in the big city. I m not a social bug yet, but I have to admit, it feels really nice being able to go to the nice restaurants and lounges if I want to, within walking distance. I love all the shopping, The Grove, and Whole Foods. My whole lifestyle has changed. I was even able to buy a dog, yea!
My apartment has the newer appliances in the kitchen which is really nice. In the summer, I was worried about the heat since I only have one air conditioner in the living room. But, I again was surprised how cool the apartment was. I think I may of had to turn on the AC a couple of times, but I never had to use it constantly. Fans work well, too. There has been one leak problem in the bath, but when I called the service department on a Sunday night at 9:00pm they were there by 10:00pm and it was handled. Other than that issue, there has been none. I love the courtyard and the trees. I really enjoy the outdoors and I have not walked as much as I do here even coming from the suburbs. All my neighbors have been nice. It is relatively quiet. I do live close to Fairfax and I m not use to the sirens yet sinceI never had to deal with them before. I don t hear my immediate neighbor at all. This apartment feels like a house and I love it.
I know I m going to get hit by this with a bunch of negative responses, but I don t care. I m writing this now because I wanted to wait and see, well I have waited, and I love this place. I feel that if everyone who enjoys living here would write something positive than people would understand what it s really like. When people are content and busy it just takes too much time to write something nice. But, if someone feels they are wronged in anyway than they are going to yell it to the whole world and make sure a lot of people know about it.

From what I've gathered, there is a big difference between the east side of the complex and the west side. You were lucky to land on the west side, and so you have not come across any problems, nor had to deal with the administration. If anyone reads this review before moving in, try to get on the west side of the complex. I'm pretty sure at least 75% of the negative reviews are from tenants from the east side. And 100% of the positive reviews are from the west side.

I'm 100% positive you don't even live there. You sound like an employee who was asked to write a superficial letter that sounds so fake a child could tell. Unfortunately, Park LaBrea is a slum. The management, slumlords. It's incredible the city allows it to persist.

You so don't live here. . .and I'd put money on the fact that you probably are in management.

It is so obvious that the desperate staff have to continue their lies in yet another lame attempt to blind-site their diminishing pool of gullible renters! Keep it up, as you may not have discovered, being that you are all a bunch on numskulls, you have pissed off so many former tenants that will be continue to rebut your bs!

Before I decided to move to Orange County to get away from Park La Brea, I lived at the apartment complex for 2.5 years. 2 years in the towers and half year in the garden town home. When I lived in the tower, I absolutely loved it. Despite the management that was never there in need of help and some minor issues, I loved my tower apartment. I lived in tower 48 right in the center of Burnside Circle and my apartment had beautiful view. I lived there for 2 years then decided to move into a Garden villa since my roommate was moving out. It was the biggest mistake I've ever made. When I moved into the Garden villa (on Lindenhurst & Fuller, near 6th street) everything went upside down! There was no closet space, my apartment was infested with insects (wasp hives, grasshoppers, crickets, spiders, beetles, cockroaches) which maintenance NEVER took care of, my sinks were all rusted and the water was constantly yellow, there were no plug outlets in my bathroom, and everything was constantly breaking and never got fixed even when I placed numerous work orders. I finally had enough of it and decided to break my lease and move out. I followed through with all the papers and documents to end my lease and guess what...3 weeks after I moved out of the hell hole, I received a letter from a fake law firm called "Karsaz & Associates" threatening to sue me for $12,300. Luckily, I had all my papers and documents saved and had my lawyer follow through with the fake law firm. Not only was I sued for no wrong doing, I was rudely and unprofessionally treated by the low classed management staff that had no respect for any of the tenants. I have walked into the leasing office so many times finding all the staff members hanging out and flirting with each other, completely ignoring me. Don't even get me started with how rude everyone is in the management. To my point, yes I loved PLB for a good 2 years then this happened to me.

This could be a genuine post people. The west side is a lot nicer and it takes a while to get to really know PLB Mgmnt. The place is beautiful to look at, the area has all the cool places to walk to, lots of nice restaurants to eat at, and lots of food delivery service that i liked to call room service. I used to live in tower 39 on the east side. It was not a terrible location to be in. What really sets me off about this place is the Management. All of the negative things that you read here are definitely true. I can say that I experienced my share of their crap/stupidity/greed. While this post may be genuine, PLB mgmnt posts here often to BOINK the ratings meter, REALLY! It is best to read all the posts to get an accurate picture of this place. As long as KattyCit doesn't have much contact with PLB Mgmnt, she will probably enjoy her stay at PLB. When she needs security or Mgmnt to help her, that is when the Three Stooges will get on her last nerve. I cannot imagine how anyone can be so retarded except that Mgmnt may be trying to keep the renters from bugging them. This kind of treatment can easily make PLB a nightmare. Don't let them fool you, crime was high when I was there and from these posts, it looks like it is getting worse. To KattyCit: I was just like you. I moved from O.C. and really missed it. PLB seems like an oasis in the big city. Just because life is roses now does not mean that it can't take a turn for the worse there. It can happen overnight. When I was there, it was rumored that security was stealing from the tenants. Now the posts I read here show that it is getting worse. If they come in and steal your stuff, that will wreck your whole opinion of PLB and you'll always feel sick when you look at the place. Good luck, I hope you never have to deal with PLB Mgmnt like the rest of us did but watch out when you leave. These people have NO MORALS!

DEAR STAFF MEMBER WHO OBVIOUSLY WROTE THIS (Is this one of your important "projects" that you're so busy doing that you cannot take a residents call???) : You can rate yourselves as highly as you like, but eventually the consistent underperformance of the management and staff will lead to empty apartments and loss of revenue. Please stop these false and unneeded lawsuits with your tenants. If you care so much about the residents, hire staff members who are not RUDE, disorganized AND UNAVAILABLE!!

THIS is clearly how low the management team has to stoop in order to try to continue to sucker people into moving here. It's a scam is what it is but I am glad the truth is shown by how many angry ex/current tenants they have on here, that speaks the real truth.

It doesn't matter if you live on the west side, east side, the north side, the south side it is all around BAD! BTW I live on the West side, Clearly you are living here rent FREE for you to even dare write this review! May no rats poop in your bed and may you breathe for another 2 years in your apartment with mold and mildew. I'm rallying and organizing a group soon to be ex-tenants to sue PLB, it comes down to doing the right thing and not to be a victim! they're relying on you to take the bullying! NOT! Hi, PLEASE, everyone who has any issues to file the complaint with better business bureau. I think it would be great to have them know too! all it takes is copy & paste. Right now they have a B which is very good rating, is that right, do they deserve a B, http://www.la.bbb.org/BusinessReport.aspx?CompanyID=1310333 thanks. give Park La Brea, the well deserved karma smack!

I've lived here for a very long time and have really enjoyed it. But in the last year PLB has been renting to families with a lot of kids, too many kids. They think the common areas are there own personal back yards. They play baseball with hard balls have no reguard for the people who are trying to get from the garage to the building and visa versa. Little kid wiggeling under the fence to go out in the street to get the balls. Kids beating the bats against the trees Breaking windows, riding their bikes in the garages, playing on the top of the garages throwing balls to the kids on the ground. One night these boys were playing baseball, after security came they speed dialed all their friends on their cells phones and thirty kids showed up some of them left. They played until 9 p.m.. they were so loud and disgusting they seem to be drunk with power that they had beat PLB. The next day was a Saturday and they played all day. Security didn't answer, people talked to them and they would sit and listen and when the person left they would go back to doing what they were doing, laughing all the way. Since then every one thinks it's a basball field, some place to play catch with a hard ball,or their own little work out area. The noise echoes through the buildings and intensifies the sound. I've been sleeping and awakened with the sound of that hard ball being caught in the glove with a headache and in a bad mood. There are places they can go and play on the sight. There's a park a block away. Mostly security is alright, sometimes they don't make it clear enough to these nimrods "no means no". To make the deal PLB probably made it seem child friendly. PLB was never made to handle all these children, much less all the people and the cars. How many people are living in two bedroom and two bathroom apartments? is slowly becoming a getto because one particular culture is so arrogant they think they don't have to follow the rules. They do not understand the echo factor at PLB. When I come home I want peace and quiet, I don't want to call security four or more times a night.
