where are you guys living'

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007

i've lived at PW for almost 3 years and i love my place. i have no roach/ant/rodent/water issues, and when i requested to have my carpet cleaned and new tile placed in my bathroom, the management (azar and stephanie) had it done within a week's time. parking can be a chore, but you're in LA for chrissakes--get over it!

laundry facility: the new owners bought new washers and dryers and they are very nice.

one problem i had was when i moved in--they (m & v) tried to make me pay for water, but every advertisement i read said that utilities were covered (back in 2004). the mgmt took care of that, too! they also changed their ads. lol :)

now, the elevators can piss me off!! there have been plenty of times when i've had to walk up more than 5 flights (i'm not telling what floor i'm on!) with groceries/luggage/shopping bags b/c the damn elevators were out of whack. the freight elevator is cool now, but for a while there, it seemed like the old owners didn't care one bit.

anyway, i have liked all of the managers until now. the new management leaves a lot to be desired on the personality front, but maybe it's b/c they are new. in some ways, it seems like they're trying to boot the old tenants out. they keep the office door closed, which is a striking change from the old folks. also, phillip and his crew place way too many damn announcements on everyone's doors; when they first started here, every announcement was about increasing parking fees and disturbing what folks were used to. i like knowing when my packages arrive, but all the other stuff is hella irritating.

the people on my floor are cool. some of the folks i see in the elevator or in the foyer seem a little weird as others have pointed out, but so what' everybody tends to mind their own business around here, and i never hear my neighbors unless their keys rattle in the hallway or they talk a little in the halls. just speak to folks and move on.

as for the infamous shooting...it didn't occur in our building or even physically on the streets nearby, as some of the other posters would have you believe. it was an isolated incident that took place INSIDE an apartment building on coronado and it was between the LAPD and some crazed person. there has been little drama around here during the past 3 years, and no one should say "no" to PW based on the idiots who make it seem like we're dodging bullets as soon as we exit the freaking building. as with any other major city, walk like you have somewhere to go, pay attention, give folks eye contact, don't flash money, and ladies, hold your purse close to your body.

and finally, if you can't take the city noise (i.e. clubs, buses, sirens), then move to the suburbs!

my two cents.
