I'd have to say, I think the comments on this site are a bit harsh. I've been here for about 6 months and have not regretted my decision. Granted, I am a USC (grad) student so a working professional might have slightly different priorities and perspective. The new concierge is ten times nicer than the last. Leasing and maintenance has been pretty reliable and punctual. Security is security....rent-a-cop. The amenities are convenient - nice pool and clean gym on the roof. Parking is too expensive and limited in the building. I am satisfied with having to walk two blocks to pay only 85 which is decent for downtown. Sure the area isn't a bustling 24 hour community, but hopefully at this point in your search you know that downtown is "up-and-coming" though not quite there yet. Washer/drier sounds like a good idea but doesn't work all that well. Better off doing larger loads in the community facilities which I find are cheaper then most other coin operated laundry machines. Depending where your unit is, you might have varying problems with noise. Loud street traffic on Wilshire and Flower. Loud echoing vent on east side and in center/courtyard units. 6th might be the quietest, but certainly most entertaining with views into The Standard Hotel. I think I've covered it all. Overall, could be a great experience depending what you are looking for. Oh, one more thing...converting to condos in the near future. Read your lease carefullly as there may be a new clause about having to vacate in a certain time period should the conversion go through while you are a tenant.
