Not as great as one would think...

Searching for a place to live can be a tedious task. Searching for a place to live in Downtown LA can be even worse, since 1-block can determine whether you're in skid-row or in an upper-class area. It's quite amusing. I thought I had found a great place to live in the Pegasus. Initially, I was greeted by enthusiastic and professional staff, and was sold on the type of lifestyle the residence offered. I should've done my homework. Shortly after moving in, I experienced hell with establishing an Internet connection in my apartment. Since the Pegasus only provides AT&T DSL, you're extremely limited, and helpless. It took 4-weeks to finally activate my service, and all they had to do was activate the line to the apartment (it takes 5 minutes). I've been told last year they were to end their contract with AT&T and obtain Time Warner, but that hasn't happened and there have been no updates on the matter.
Parking is another tidbit to deal with, at an extra $250-275 monthly if parking within the building. The amenities found within the building are satisfactory. There's a pool big enough to cool off your big toe; a computer room that has 4 semi-working computers, which work 50% of the time; and a gym, which in my opinion, is the best available amenity, and it best suits runners.
Within the apartment, there can be little said other than the european washer/dryer combination is horrible. You will probably end up paying for an electronic payment card in order to wash clothing in the 3rd floor washer/dryer room. I found the additional cost worth it as washing and drying using the aforementioned machine leaves your clothing damp after hours of use. Such a waste of time. They've been telling residents there is an upgrade coming, but that's been going on for years from what other residents have told me. Don't hold your breath.
Overall, what sold me on the Pegasus was it's location and luxurious appeal (don't let it fool you). I ride the subway to work, so having it 1-block away is paramount. However, I'd rather walk a few extra blocks if it meant living in a place that offered more selection, and a better way to meet more people. It's nice, but as many have said on this site: nothing special.

Some things just don't change. I moved from Pegasus in August 2008 and am now looking to come back downtown after a year away. I see the same tired promises are still being promised. KOR should be ashamed of itself, but they are so arrogant, they really don't care.
