A year's worth of pains.

I moved into Poinsettia Apt because it was last minute & I loved the layout and location. Soon after, we realized that this was a huge mistake. One of the first things that happened, was one night we came home to our kitchen sink overflowing with this gross greasy residue. It was all over the counters and kitchen floor. Our dishwasher and garbage disposal frequently have issues working proficiently.
A few months after we moved in, we got a cockroach and silverfish infestation. We are fairly clean residents and this upset us greatly. The manager tried to blame it on a full trash can we had at the time. Bug people came twice and not until the 2nd time was the problem resolved.
The building always reeks of marijuana. The grounds are nice, with a nice pool and hottub. The hot tub is always scorching. There is a gym, but all of the equipment is old and most of it is broken aside from a treadmill and a few other ellipticals.
We have a unit that faces the courtyard and every sound echoes, so whether its the old russian ladies yelling, or someone having a party, it's always magnified x20.
Also after a few months of living here, the alarm system went crazy. Going off every 15 minutes from 9 am to 1 pm for 5 days straight. This is not just a regular beeping, this is a shrilling ear-piercing sound. They placed the speakers right in the bedroom.
The fire alarm goes off every other week at like 2 in the morning. Pretty annoying.
I used to feel very safe here, until recently when 8 cars in the parking garage were broken into, mine included. This is very frustrating because we pay a lot to live here and the least they can do is make sure our possessions are safe on their grounds. My windshield was smashed into and a few things were stolen.
The manager is a pain. Not very helpful at all. There are normally two on duty. One has been here every since we've lived here (she's the pain) but the others are always new. It seems that they can't keep a manger here very long. Hmm wonder why'
Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with living here, and can't wait to move. If it didn't cost a fortune to break the lease, I would. Don't move here, unless you want a year's worth of pains.

I agree with this person. As a former resident, my experience was the same. And when it came time to renew my lease, they hounded me constantly with letters, and wanted to raise the rent a ridiculous amount. It was always a bizarre mix of smells too..... Older people cooking strange food mixed with marijuana and cigarettes. You could always hear noise from the pool. People would sneak in late at night and we could hear everything. I'm a young professional. It was a pain. Loved the layout of my actual apartment. Hated just about everything else.

I agree also. The fire alarms were the worst. I never had a bug infestation in my actual apartment, but for months there were cockroaches all over the laundry room including crawling INSIDE the washers. I think I was the only person in the building that didn't smoke and multiple times I would get into an elevator with someone smoking. They apparently though if they turned away into a corner when someone else walked onto the elevator it would be okay. I was not once able to open my windows while I lived there because the people below me were chain smokers who apparently never left their balcony for any reason and between them and their visitors probably smoked five packs a day. People were also smoking while IN the pool and would also eat and drink while IN the pool. Yeah, I want to swim in ashes and watermelon seeds. Thanks. People were constantly coming in late drunk, which wouldn't be a problem if they weren't falling into the walls so hard that it knocked my kitchen cupboards open and caused glasses to fall out and break. I really wish this would have been a better place to live because I really loved the actual apartment and the location. Oh yeah, and I kindly gave them a 60-day notice in writing that I was moving out and they tried to keep my entire security deposit because I didn't give them a 30-day notice on their special little form you have to use.

Thanks for all your feedback, I was extra careful on giving them 30-day notice and since now they have new mgrs( lady is no longer here), you literally have to let them know what you want several times otherwise, it wouldnt get fixed. Watch out for lady named "Eva" or "Evan", she looks freaky n not good at returning your call at all! This apt is full of young, careless, people who dont care abt other tenants. Other than that, place is nice n quiet. Layout is nice n lovely. Now I dont know what to expect for deduction from my security deposit after I move out. This place is not under rent control so prepare for $200 or so increase in rent when renew for another year.

Zmarie87,
It sounds as though you live in the exact same apartment, my girlfriend and I lived in, back in 1991. Courtyard apartment on bottom floor.
THOSE CRAZY ASS RUSSIANS, ARE STILL THERE?!!! WOW!!!!!
the place was a mess then, and our apartment was only good for hiding.
through it all, however, I have to admit that I loved the location back then, because it put me close to almost everything I needed.
There were lots of naked evenings in the basement swimming pool, and sauna.
Sorry...
surely they have cleaned it since then.
