After seeing all the positive reviews on this site, I thought this apartment building may be what I was looking for. I called to ask about availability and pricing before I made the long trip to LA. The man that answered (I think he was the manager) told me they had a unit that was available now, and it was in my price range and had the amenities I was looking for. I asked him if I could schedule a time to come by and see it. He started asking me a bunch of questions (if I had pets, how many people, etc.), which was a little odd because all the other complexes I had called just tell you the pertinent policies or wait until you are viewing the unit to discuss things like credit requirements. The unit suddenly changed from being available now to being still occupied (people were moving out). A little shady, but I didn't think much of it at the time.
He asked me if I was employed or a student, I said student. He asked about a cosigner, which I had. Then he made a comment about that I must be going to a specific college (sounded like MIC or MIT, but I couldn't understand). When I said I was going to USC, he suddenly became very rude. He told me it was a "bad idea" that I live there and that I shouldn't be looking at these apartments. He would not let me view the unit.
I could understand this attitude if I had credit issues, evictions, problems at previous residences, etc., but just because I am a student looking for a safe, quiet place to live' I certainly won't look to live in this apartment building now, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking in the area. It's the management's loss though, because they just lost a good potential tenant!
