Stolen cars and plumbing woes

From: -Anonymous-

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003

There have been 5 cars stolen from the parking lot that I personally know of in the last 2 years (2001-2003). The parking structure lacks video cameras, many tenants have to use a tandem parking valet service because management has sold a huge chunk of the parking spaces to local downtown businesses to use, and there have many complaints about damage to cars and thefts from inside vehicles. This is suppose to be a "secured" parking structure but that's hardly the case.

Moreover, the building has numerous other problems. Many of the units have had sinks overflow and flood their apartments because the plumbing is all tied in together so if the unit's sink gets clogged, the units above take in water from all the units above them causing massive overflows. The plumbing is also quite old so if it does flood, you get black water staining and damaging everything. Also, because the water supply is tied to all the units together, if plumbing repairs are needed on one unit, the water is turned off in all the units for the entire day. Water is turned off at least once a month and on occassion, once a week.

Airconditioning is also a huge problem. The building is entirely concrete. This means that in the summer months, the building retains a lot of heat. You really need to run the airconditioning 24 hours a day in the summer if it works properly. Our unit's airconditioner thermostat would not work properly so even though the temperature would read 80 degrees, you would have to place the cooling temperature at 60.

Lastly, if you thought management would be sympathetic to the tenant's plight after knowing of all these problems for years, you mistaken. They make every excuse in the book to avoid paying for repairs and damages. They will actually point the finger at the tenant or in the alternative say, "if you aren't happy, just move."

Tenants have made several attempts to organize but the management continues to ignore these efforts and even attempt to evict those who try to organize.

Beware!
