Very Noisy- can't wait to leave!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 3/22/2008
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2008
I have lived here for a few years and the only thing keeping me from moving is the cost. My rent is reasonable (because I have been here so long) but don't expect that if you are new. The apartments are pretty outdated- the wear and tear is really beginning to show but I think they are doing a bit of remodeling for new tenants. However, the main problem here is the noise. Most (not all) of the people who live here are pretty nice but there are a few oddballs. First of all, EVERY apartment has a room facing the interior hallways/courtyard. So whether it's your bedroom or living room- you have people walking right by the window (no privacy) and if they are heavy footed the window and floor SHAKES. If you want to open the window to get some fresh air (and you will) you hear all the noise from every other apartment in the building echoing throughout the courtyard(and there are some noisy tenants here). Security and management do nothing to control the noise by the way. The back of your apartment is either going to face the street Leland (cars/street noise) or the back alley which backs right up against several business parking lots on Sunset Blvd. one of which is the 1 800 JUNK company and they just love to park their "Junk Trucks" there and bang around. So, forget about sleeping in on the weekends or god forbid take a nap in the afternoon! Again, there is an echo in this back alley area so you hear lots of noise from the "businesses" at all hours and other tenants on their patios. Now lets move on to your next door neighbors! The walls are EXTREMELY thin and you can hear everything in the apartment next door- even just a conversation. If you have an especially loud/obnoxious neighbor (as I do) you will have NO peace and quiet. Ever. Complaints have been made many times by several tenants... yet management allows people to live here who are disrespectful and constantly violate "noise rules". Another note- the plumbing has some major problems. They are constantly shutting off the water on average a couple days a month and this has been going on for YEARS. I don't think they will ever be able to fix it. If you or your neighbor run hot water, you will hear the pipes banging loudly in the walls. The elevators are not very reliable either- they also seem to be an ongoing problem that is never 100% fixed. Parking is great (for you, a spot in the garage) but there is very, very limited street parking for guests. The building is pretty safe and secure (if you don't mind homeless people hanging on the corner), there is even a security guard at night. Don't expect too much from them though, they are usually asleep in their car. The location is not great to me but might be for some. You are in the middle of Hollywood traffic, right behind Sunset Blvd. (think: police/fire/ambulance sirens/helicopters 24/7). There are plenty of places to walk to from here. If you love Hollywood, don't mind the noise, are 21 and like to party- this might be the place for you. But if you are mature, professional, and value having some peace and quiet in your own home- you probably won't like it.
